Hans Zimmer all in one orchestra library. Vol 1,2,3,4,5 are good, i would avoid vol 6 and 7...8,9,10,11 and 12 are also good.

From my experience I can tell you that every orchestral library you buy or download you will find lacking in some regard. Perhaps library A has wonderful legato patches and you love the dynamic cross fades on them. But then you listen to the detaché samples, if the library even has them, and they sound like a machine gun. So then you get library B and fall in love with the short articulations in that library but it doesn't have true legato samples so you can't play any legato melody and not have it sound fake or like you are playing non-legato. And so the endless search continues for the perfect sample library that has all the articulations you are searching for as well as that ever illusive "Hollywood sound".

 

Anything by ProjectSam escpecially Symphobia.

 

These are lacking RR and dynamics - OK for trailers.
Cinematic music sounds vague - what kind of cinematic music?
Also, don't forget that there is no sample library without some kind of glitch or badly tuned RR...
Spitfire Chamber Strings are cool, but not for epic stuff.
LASS is also cool, I don't know if there is anything similar that can handle extended jazz voicings.
There is a Reaktor ensemble in the user library that can do things that can't be recreated using samples unless you want to use solo string loops. Check under physical modeling category.

 

8Dio Adagio, Cage, and Majestica (also epic percussion libraries), Heavyocity Novo, Aeon (also all percussion libraries), Orchestral Tools Metropolis Ark 1 and 2, Cinesamples Cinebrass, Audio Impera Event Horizon and other epic libraries, etc.

 

This thread should be locked. This question has been asked a gazillion times (or variations of it about cinematic strings, brass, percussion etc) so you just need to search!

 

I don't think this should be locked. It's not like I haven't searched, I got a couple already cinematic strings 2, Lass etc. I just think it's good to hear about some you didnt know. Like for example in my case Metropolis ark.

 

You can't have looked very hard as the term "kontakt cinematic libraries" bought up lots for me, including these (which is far from an exhaustive list). This is plenty to start off with without needing another thread along the same lines as some of these in my opinion. Just getting a bit bored of generic 'request' and wanna be spoon-fed type threads. Nothing personal, just need to start encouraging people to not be so lazy and to search properly...

And exactly 300 likes. I didn't want to destroy the beautiful picture, hence just a "funny" from me

 

A 6 pack on ice (preferably a cloudy belgium white/wheat) in the cooler next to me, saves trips to the fridge for when Im in the zone. Some pretzels and assorted nuts, almonds and pistachios. And a full tank in my e-cig vape. Oh damn, wrong thread, lol.

Hes all good, just got to figure it all out, including this forum. We were all there before....
Hes just starting to collect libs that wont get any usage. Im always purging them out of my Kontakt folder just to make room for more that wont get any usage

 

This is probably the singular most important comment he can take from this thread. We've all done it, but with hindsight I wasted so much music making time looking for libs and playing with libs I would never realistically use.
