If you could import your own midi and have it dynamically rearranged based on the chord tracks and instrument range rules (with some notion of voice leading), it would be amazing. (yeah I know Synfire can do this, but Synfire is very expensive)

Not even tried Scaler 3. Ver. 2 works for everything i want from this software. When they released it i thought if there was room for some enhancement and for the comments of people on this thread, i don't think so. It's meant to be a damn simple software. It already was, and quite functional IMO.

People are different and naturally their perspectives are different. My goal is to learn music. For me, knowing the essence of music is more important than quick productions. Anything that thinks for me has no place in my schedule. Someone who has chosen the path of music must think her/him self.

They made it toooo comprehensive. It was a great, simple, straightforward tool, now it's a powerhouse. I enjoyed it when it was closer to a Cthulhu than a DAW.

The tool is usable for musicians from every level of knowledge. I can make pretty complex stuff with Scaler that a noob on music theory for sure can't do. Music is not only notes and scales, but mainly what you do with them.

Making the most complex music doesn't mean you understood music.

I agree with this, it seems that now priority is time over quality, like all these new producers seem to be in some kind of race to churn out a track. What's the rush? For me it's always been a long process sort of thing that I've (hopefully) improved at over time.

Taking shortcuts might yield faster results, but music isn't really going anywhere, so why rush it? Take the time and the effort and the results will eventually yield in some kind of deeper understanding, and you won't have that empty feeling of having cheated yourself and cut so many corners. Just my opinion on it

Dont know scaler is there yet, even if so there are plenty of features that could be implemented, right at this moment i could say a feature that could be most useful. But most big time Devs dont implement it, they just drag it on for a while, because every single 'major' 'feature' is a 'major upgrade' and its money for every major upgrade, so most of them do it at once, but one by one slowly. By the time its half way there it will be 2030 already.. Not bragging just saying..

Distasteful thread even though its facetious. I'm not a fan of the update at all, I was a big fan of the company they price scaler fairly. They listened to allot of my suggestions from version one but at some point it was clear that they needed a complete overhaul of the GUI. This seemed to take an age but i was positive version 3 fix all the issues of version 2 plus expand on what made scaler a great creative tool.
When i got the beta I was very disappointed & expressed this to the dev team.
The main problems being the work-flow although looking nicer actually in many ways was slower to use.
The GUI design didn't really resolve the issue of things feeling at time cramped.
I felt that 80% of the development time was making it more daw like & these features couldn't really be used by playing your keyboard.
I have tried to communicate to their team that scaler has lost sight of what made it good in the first place.
I know some people wanted something thats makes music for them but for me & i think others it was a tool that helped me create my own music & help me understand my own music I never liked or used those generic performances.
I get the feeling that a lot of the design choices are about creating a mobile version.

You can still find v 1.81 R2R online for download. It was super easy & helpful and not overloaded.

I use Scaler as a collaboration tool, but I'm the one who is calling all the shots. I usually set it to white key mode so that I can easily try out the different scales and keys. Basically it just means my ears are doing all of the work instead of my fingers, and I also get to discover and learn new stuff.

After checking it out quite a bit, I don't really see the changes as getting in the way of what I was doing with v2. There is just additional stuff to ignore. People can be creatures of habit and reluctant to any changes, It's how some people end up with "the magic discontinued version" of things, and trying to install Ozone 3 on new machines, etc. A "poll" like this will be a more valid one, a couple of months from now. After people get over the new features and changes. That's what always happens.

I don't like this new update.
I tried it, and I find it less and less intuitive.
I don't want to watch two hours of videos on YouTube with each new update.
For these reasons, I'm sticking with version 2.

Quick rundown on Scaler 3? Why is it disliked? Never used Scaler myself. Just interface/workflow changes that make it more cumbersome to use?
