    WAVES was simply doing what any developer would do in protecting their product. Those recording studios are multimilion-dollar facilities. They certainly can afford the price of WAVES many times.

    I was a member of such a site, where I was a VIP first (not from paying, but from long time use), BUT then they decided to change their system, so everybody had to pay to become VIP (or keep VIP) I did not pay, so I was non longer VIP, and lost access to 90% of the stuff. And they also use an obscure filehost that only their VIP users seem to get access to.

    This is why I love AZ :)

    Getting back to paying or not paying for w*r*z. Not one person has come to the defence of those uploaders who spend a lot of time and effort doing the uploads. I think that alone deserves some compensation. On AZ the uploaders get 'paid' from Uploaded etc. every time someone downloads their uploads. Not long ago there was an outcry from AZ members about that. Those sites that are charging are not forcing people to pay, they pay of their own volition. Let them be. Or shall we also ridicule people who pay for clothing that doesn't please us or tell them to just wear hand-me-downs only? Try criticizing women who pay out large sums of money for products that either don't work, make them look like circus clowns or even endanger their health. And the moral question 'should we pay for w*r*z?' The answer surely has to be 'it's a free world, pay if you want to.'

    I don't think that's the point.
    If a free hoster pays them for every download that's ok, imho.
    But if a site demands charged premium accounts only to make money with warez they downloaded for free from elsewhere, that's not ok.
