Maschine is best when using stand alone especially with Maschine Studio which offers an unique worflow.
However if you need audiotracks it is less optimal and DAW integration is less good imo.

The MPC Software was a nightmare when I tried it.

If you just need a Drum Sample player Battery might be a nice solution but it will never be as tight coupled to hardware compared to Maschine.

Why Battery, because it supports destructive Sample editing. Does Geist 2 include even normalize now ?

I suggest you try all Softwares before buying anything.

A while back I tried Maschine without computer and it convinced me to give Maschine Studio a try which I <3 now.

Ah something else you might need to consider, do you like to resample / sample fast and intuitive ? If yes Maschine might be a good choice :)

You can use any VST / AU Plugin within Maschine Standalone.
It also have full destructive Sample editing, trim, normalize, fade etc...

The funny thing is I had the same feeling about Maschine software - it's workflow made no sense to me, didn't like the GUI either. I guess it just really depends on your needs and music production habits. Always try before buy!

By nightmare I mean that when painting in o automation data, the whole MIDI timing sufferd. That gone so far that the Sequencer totally froze. I am not sure if that has been addressed now. Besides that I prefer the sample handling in Maschine. It is much more as it was oancient MV 8000 , so I might be biased :)

The Korg MicroKey is also very nice for drums and percussive played sounds :)
