I have a i7-8559u @ 2.71GHz base/4.5GHz boost and it works fine for 90% of what I do. I rarely ever use more than 50% CPU in Reaper (which is maybe 60-70% total when you add the system processes in the background). The 8550 is definitely not slow, but it's not new or very fast either. You will definitely have to use it with power option set to performance so that it's using it's boost clock speed (4.0GHz) all the time.

 

In principle, you can still make music with it for a very long time.
Of course, if you start with contact or want to do video production, the RAM is not enough, you should install 4 identical ones.

There are no stupid questions but only stupid answers.

When someone here talks politically, the thread is closed at the fastest time possible and members are punished, but when someone asks stupid questions, that thread continues to page 1000.

Stupid questions will have stupid answers. These questions don't lead anyone to make great music.

Unfortunately, AS Rules haven't prohibited people from asking stupid questions.

 

If someone is Stupid and asks Stupid questions, you should answer his questions. Man has human dignity and human dignity is inviolable. It would be very inhumane to exclude stupid people. It is not up to us as human beings to classify who may ask a question and who may not.

You can as a user Disliken or Liken and so your opinion here others communicate. What you propose is very questionable and does not testify to an enlightened tolerant loving people. We want to listen to each other and not devalue someone.

I can bear everything but stupidity, because stupidity ends up in extinction and dissolving. If stupidity is not stopped, the human race will perish. What has led to human progress is the struggle against stupidity and ignorance, and if it is allowed to grow again, then the human achievements through constructive thought and effort will be lost.

Many questions and solutions are useless. So far, billions upon billions of questions have been asked throughout human life on Earth, but to be fair, many of these questions have been absurd and have only wasted people's energy and time to find answers for them.

The right questions lead to progress, but meaningless questions cause misery.

The point of all of it, is learning! Whatever you can. Noone here knows everything; the only problem is when people think they do.

With that said, and a registration date of 2015; with the amount of information available to you *just* on this website...do you think someone would have learned enough by now to evaluate whether a system will be suitable for their needs?

I mean, very high performance systems and Kontakt users with multiple external SSD's and so on; that's it's own thing. Can include big investments and have all sorts of hidden details a user must navigate.

The people at the Walmart computer department could answer this question. Probably the Greeter could, too.

Asking a question that you already know the SIMPLE answer to, so you can sit back and watch the Phillistines (or people who do not have fundamental understanding of Audio or IT/Technology), argue for 4 pages; is not requesting information. It is passive aggressive trolling.
