The Details





The MAIN Page
The Main Page is all about having instant access to all the parameters that you will use most of the time without the need to jump to other screens.

The Upper left section includes Oscillator level and Pan. Mod Wheel parameter destination and amount. ADSR controls for both Amplitude and Filter. Cutoff, Filter Type, Resonance, Envelope Amount, Distortion Level and Distortion Type. A Fixed Hi Pass and Lo Pass Filter. Amplitude and Filter Velocity settings.

The Lower section provides two fixed LFO's. One for Volume and one for Pan. Each LFO automatically syncs to the tempo and has amount, note division, shape and phase controls.

The 3rd section in the upper right has a Layer Bypass, Main Volume, Level Meter, Tuning for Octave, Coarse and Fine, Key Follow, Aftertouch controls, Midi Player enable, Arpeggiator enable and Octave Controls, Glide Controls, Mono/Poly Controls, and Unison Controls.





The MOTION Page
The Motion Page provides 2 LFO's, 2 Step Modulators, User Envelope, Amp Envelope, and Pitch Envelope.

LFO A is identical in functionality and located in the upper part of the page. The LFO has a frequency rate or when set to sync will automatically lock to the tempo and also has amount, note division, shape and phase controls. The LFO also has a destination pull down menu that gives you many options like Cutoff, Resonance, Distortion, etc.

The lower part of the page is switchable via 4 buttons located to the right the LFO. These switch between the Step Modulator, User Envelope, Pitch Envelope and an Amp Envelope. The Step Modulator and the User Envelope also have a destination menu with the same choices that are available for the LFO A.







The DROP Page - L1/L2
The DROP Page offers the user a choice of either dropping a user sample on a SAMPLE layer or a GRANULAR layer. The user can stack both a SAMPLE and a GRANULAR layer or choose to use just one or the other.

The SAMPLER page on the L1 tab (Layer 1) also offers Steinberg's AUDIO WARP technology allowing you to time stretch a sample without changing the pitch if you choose. This is particularly useful for dropping loop samples into this page and locking it to tempo or beats and having the loop seamlessly follow your hosts tempo.

The GRANULAR layer on L2 tab (Layer 2) is a fantastic tool for sound design and allows for modern sonic possibilities. The user can control important parameters like duration, position and length. There is also the ability to choose up to 8 grains to create complex but smooth sounds.




The FX Page
The FX Page provides you with 18 different insert effects to enable or disable. The different effects are:

• Main Synth Filter with VCF section that has 24 filter shapes and five distortion modes. There are also unique morphing filters that seamlessly blend between up to 4 out of 24 filter types via the XY Page.

• Morph Filter with 2 filter shapes that can be controlled via the automatable XY controller right on the Morph Filter FX module.
  
  
• 2 independent stereo Delays with 3 modes.
  
  
• Efficient Algorithmic Reverb with many parameters to tailor its sound.
  
  
• Convolution Reverb with many impulse choices.
  
  Additionally, there is a complete suite of 61 audio effect processors in total available via the AUX FX Sends in the mixer portion of HALion Sonic SE.

The ARP Page
This is an advanced 32-step Arpeggiator based on Yamaha’s legendary Motif Technology with extensive programming and modulation features. The Arpeggiator offers many parameters for programming phrases and altering tempo, groove and swing. Three additional controller lanes are available for quick and easy step modulation for oscillator and filter parameters.

The phrases of the arpeggiator can be recorded internally and exported to the DAW via drag and drop to make them accessible as editable MIDI events. Additionally, you can store and trigger 8 different phrases on the fly in real time without ever losing sync.

The entire Arpeggiator settings can be locked to keep phrases even when browsing the available presets.



The XY Page
The XY Page is a simple layout with 3 XY controller boxes. The first XY box controls the Main FX Filter when it is set to dual or quad Morphing modes. The second and third XY boxes are tied to the fixed Lo Pass and Hi Pass Filters that are found on the Main Page. This is a very fun and creative way to automate these filters.





The BROWSER Page
Browse through the patch library with ease and find what you need quickly thanks to the detailed tagging system and large viewing window that is part of the MediaBay sound management system.



The browser can also open "undocked" and be resized up to full screen size.







The Quick Controls
8 Pre-assigned controls at the bottom of the screen allow for quick access to the most commonly used parameters. These are assigned to both layers allowing you to control for example the cutoff filter offset for both layers at the same time with one knob.


The Motion knob can control all the motion and pulsing of a patch. It defaults to full motion but can dial the motion all the way down to no movement at all. A very creative way to control many LFO's, Step Filters, and User Envelopes all with one simple knob.


* PAN LFO is excluded from the Motion Quick control knob.






The Trigger Pads
8 Trigger pads are assigned to the Arpeggiater's 8 possible patterns. These can be triggered "on the fly" all without losing sync in real time. This allows you to perform pattern switches in real time creating almost endless pattern possibilities from the 8 available "live" patterns. Once you play around with this feature it becomes a very powerful creative tool.

The pads can also be assigned to the 8 patterns on the Midi Player page as well. Patterns are set via drag and drop from the number 1-8 buttons on the Arp or Midi Player page. All patches that utilize the Arp or Midi Player are pre-configured to trigger from these pads by default.

In the upper left corner of the trigger pad window is a pull-down that contains 2 presets. One configures the pads to trigger via the bottom 8 keys of an 88-key controller. The second will trigger notes below the keyboard range (C#-2 thru G#-2). The pre-configured Touchosc and Liine Lemur templates included will trigger these notes from the Tablet preset.

Hello people!
I want to share with you one of my projects, a VA polyphonic synth called Crust. It's in an ongoing development, though pretty capable. I've been using it for quite a while in my productions for bass, pads and chaotic structures. Recently, I've updated it with a couple of nice ZDF filters and decided that it's juicy enough to release.

NB: Thank you all for testing! It is a pre-alpha, so it might have some bugs. While submitting reports, please don't forget the DAW and OS info.

In Crust some traditional features are more versatile. For instance, phase bending range is flexible. Oscillator tune, phase distortion, pan and filter cutoff have adjustable shiver with optional sync modes, which allows for making Boards-of-Canada-like atmospheres. And there's a separate phase knob for adding magnetic tape flutter to the sound. FM source can be an external signal. AM carrier too can be an external signal or internal filtered noise generator; those of you who like modern techno stuff like Emptyset may enjoy that
All controls are MIDI-automatable, MIDI map is saved with projects.

In the future I'd like to add stuff, e.g. mod matrix, and improve some things (Crust is not on a low CPU diet at the moment). Also many params have quite a wide range, and as a result you can not only create beautiful sounds but get exposed to aliasing for instance. Although Crust has adjustable osc oversampling, btw.

DESCRIPTION
“Snaps Claps Slaps Stomps & Shouts” is a vocal and body FX virtual instrument for the full version of Kontakt. We sampled a 24-piece mixed choir performing exactly what the title suggests – various snaps, claps, chest and knee slaps, stomps and 12 shouted words, all at 1 dynamic (loud) and up to 12 round robin. For the shouts we recorded the men and women separately, but of course you can layer them if you like.

The performers were recorded in a semi-circle with 3 microphone perspectives – close, decca tree and hall. The room is spacious but fairly dry, with only a 1.2 second tail, which allows for easy blending with other libraries using your favorite reverbs, so you’re not limited to the sound of one particular hall. The GUI features several sample tweaking and manipulation controls including volume, pan, pitch, attack, release, layering, convolution reverb and 5 keyswitched FX.

This nifty little sample player / instrument is one of those few completely free ones that actually does a decent job of its Direct From Disk Streaming.

And yes, it is a Plogue authorized SFZ version of SM Drums for Sfrozando !

What’s so special about it ?
‘Authorized’ means it has a proper GUI with some spiffing controls for all the kit pieces / buses. That’s right, it has a one stop for all controls right there in Sforzando. And Sforzando has a pretty neatly implemented DFD (direct from disk streaming). And the Sforzando vst/standalone is free, as is this drum library. Do I need to draw you a road map here ?

What’s in there ?
There’s around 2.2 GB of beautifully multi-sampled collector’s drum kit insanity (many velocity layer and plenty of round robins) , the sfz files, the GUI files, plus a manual and track templates for Reaper and FLStudio.

There is a version for a single instance of sforzando, that lets you play the whole kit and control some crucial parameters from there, for a stereo out.

There is a version for every single drum bus, where you can have multiple instances of Sforzando on separate tracks in your DAW to apply external FX on each drum bus.

But really, talk is cheap so just start playing after reading the wonderfully done installation guide and manual.
