I don't get it, why people are complaining? It's not subscription, when you buy it it's yours. The volume of updates will be relatively the same, they probably wanted more update events for cash and marketing reasons. Which means you can just skip any updates and buy one only when you see that it accumulated enough value for you personally or when you have time to test it, so basically doing what you've been doing anyways with one difference - you had to wait for way too long to see if there's any value.

 

Or maybe, just maybe, it's possible to achieve this but you simply don't know how?

Funny. I've been using Studio One for years (since V3), and doing mixing in this "mid level DAW" got me plenty of gold, platinum and multi-platinum records. I wonder what I could achieve if I moved to a "professional DAW"?

 

I tried but you can't send a effect track to herself.

 

So if you want to stay compatible with the latest OS (or get bug fixes) you have to pay $149 / year.

 

Turns out I was right all along! I love Studio One, and I was considering going full legit, but maybe I'll be back to Reaper after almost ten years of Studio One. $60 for Reaper is a steal, and I won't blink twice before doing it.

Far be it from me to choose how anyone should spend their hard earned cash, but for people who are paying 150 a year legit for upgrading, have you considered a visit to our beloved sister? Then to ease your conscience (if need be) you could give the 150 to charity!

Your Post suggests that you're an amateur with no major successes. If you ever get close to professionals, don't embarrass yourself. You make a valid point and I respect your view.

However, there are many companies out there who take software sharing as an acceptable part of life. Consequently, never offsetting those loses towards their loyal customers, which leads me to just one conclusion. A company who DOES do that, will eventually fold. Hence, it is a false economy!

 

First they offe a subscription and add exclusive content which could be purchased previously.
Then the add the exclusive contebnt to version 7 but still take teh same money for upgrades from people who bought all their exclusive content previously. Thats not very friendly to loyal long time supporters.

 

Presonus is so poor... can't even pay attention to loyal customers yet bedroom musicians.

That's bullshit... I bet Reaper has a fuck ton of pirates using their software and they still charge the same for the software, with the same discounted license and update plan.

That's just Fender pushing for higher profit margins. If you play video games you know what I mean.
