If cellphone manufacturers really wanted to secure all of their clients' needs, they'd include a digital carry-case in the sale with a password-locking mechanism to even open the case. How many people do you know, who do not carry their phone in a carry-case with their credit/debit cards, bankcards and complete personal information? There are less that carry only a phone than those who turned their phone case into a wallet.

It's actually a testament to why so many people online and when losing their phones get so badly gutted. Online is no different. This guy in the thread tricked people into believing they were getting something they were not and because so many have a centralized form of access, well....

I do not know if this helps anyone secure their life a little more?...
    • Ensure none of your passwords have your birthdate in it or name.
    • Gather all of your passwords and put them in a file.
    • Print this file out twice.
    • Then remove /delete all of the auto-logins from your computer and phone and delete the file on your computer you created.
    • Put the print-outs in two locations where you live or one also at work if a secure location.
    • The only way you can be caught is if your house gets robbed and they find your password list. Physical theft is less likely unless you live in a high robbery area.

I also blame banks with the CSC on the back of every credit card. If they truly wanted to up your security they'd send it separately and ask you to store it in a safe place not having it anywhere near the card, and avoid printing it on the back of the card where anyone who has the card can rob you.

After reading these comments, I feel I should try to clarify a few things. From the top...

Indeed. And those comments were removed and he received a warning for it.

You mean like this? https://audiosex.pro/threads/audiosex-rules.19991/

    "Selling / Buying Forum
This sub-forum was made as a bulletin board to trade personal hardware or software by digital license transfer.
We do not take any responsibility for anything that happens between you and another party; just as we are not responsible for anything taking place in your private messages. Single licenses can only be sold/transferred once.
We despise selling warez, so don't even think about reselling libraries here, you will be banned for this.

    Additional Notes
We are not responsible for anything that happens in your private interactions with other members; the internet is full of scammers, so please be aware and be sure to do your due diligence before buying a plugin from someone or sending money for any reason."

Not to put you on blast here, but since you commented about and questioned it, as with proaudioguy's "scam" comments being removed, your multiple "scam" comments were also removed and a warning given because we cant allow unfounded accusations to blindly be thrown around at other members (especially after being asked not to do it). And yet, here we are again. If you have proof of something, by all means, send us a report and we will look into it post haste!

    ---

I often post reminders about our rules and the risks involved with buying licenses secondhand - this falls entirely on members to check with developers about resales, account takeovers, buyer/seller reputations, feedbacks etc., and obviously look out for the blatant red flags. This forum isn't a marketplace where we are charging fees and in strict control over transactions and is why we clearly state all transactions should take place via PM/offsite, as we cannot be responsible for or have any control over what goes on there. Would you guys prefer to have a strictly monitored Audiosex fee based marketplace as such? :dunno:

With this situation, shortly after being asked to mod here I was onto this scumbag back in June, I absolutely despise people who actively and intentionally deceive others, and so he received 3 warnings, had multiple accounts banned and comments removed for unfounded accusations and ratings abuse/rep boosting (pointwise, not enough to outright ban him), but until a member came forward with proof of a scam, my hands were tied. By sheer coincidence, within a matter of hours a second member came forward, totally unrelated to the first, different developers/plugins involved, so finally we were able to verify and justify taking actions to stop this guy from scamming more members here.

The whole point being, we need proof before taking action. While I do indeed check these sales threads daily and watch out for any fishy behavior etc., we rely on you guys the members to report this stuff. We are here to help, but we cant always do it alone. Even if a bit unsure, if something looks and feels off, report it! The worst that can happen is it will be rejected.

I just did a quick test search and this thread is already yielding top results outside of the forum, so again, if anyone else has bought from this thief, currently active/"legit" licenses or not, feel free to comment any details you are comfortable posting in this thread (minus your own personal information, obviously).

    :thanks:

Asking direct questions to the seller also helps. In the report facility, the reporter can type a simple message like "I have a really bad feeling this may be a scam, is this seller/person legitimate?" Then leave it to the moderators to decide. Rather than public written deprecation. Even if justified, it's still a bad look, regardless of status.

for most users it is the equivalent of spam. Most sites do not allow this stuff, if for just the simple reason they are not even getting a cut of the transaction. The developer gets nothing, or next to nothing with a transfer fee. I've actually never seen anything like it.

Imo just close this category, it's like asking for trouble.
But eh, what do I know, probably helped many people who otherwise wouldn't have gotten the deals on KVR or other forums. You do you....

Not really, to be honest - I'm too old for that sort of things, unfortunately. There must be younger forces that are better able to take on that task.

But I think it should be possible to introduce some kind of procedure and some basic rules that could make this kind of transaction safer for buyers.

When proaudioguy is finally behind bars part of his sentence should be a daily two hour lecture by ULX on symphonic composition.

On the other hand, maybe his crimes wouldn't warrant torture...the Geneva Conventions and all that!

Ya that would be a great idea that you have to be a member for 6 months or a year before selling or buying anything .. yes it will bum a few out that is just getting started but atleast we know it's not a new burner account from the same people

Agree. I'd go even further -- a member for 6 months with a minimum number of posts. 30? 50? That'd stop people just creating accounts and then sitting off, doing nothing until they qualify. And it also would stop people creating multiple accounts to get around it.

If the point is to allow members to buy/sell software they no longer use, I don't see any reason why you wouldn't want to limit that to active members. If you want to use community facilities, you should at least be part of that community. Otherwise, just flog it on ebay or Facebook marketplace or whatever.

Not really. They would just "backstop" those aliases with posts, to make them appear to be real users. Like Foster does. Look at all the fake accounts that are created just to bump threads with "Trusted Seller!" types of comments. And of course, there are always "other ways" for people like this to acquire user accounts. I would not even bet this specific "proaudioguy" who showed pictures of gear, gig details, and other things mentioned above; is not just some assumed/faked identity. That is in Chapter 3 of Trolling For Dummies. This kind of thing is not much more complex.

When I see a u-tub video using a canned voice I can hear it easily and know that it's not a real human, and just as like with any new Foster alias, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to spot him coming a mile away even though his "voice" slightly changes from reincarnation to subtle reinvention. The same was with this guy who is a classic scam artist. I too saw him coming from a mile away. His kind preys on hopes and dreams but in the end only delivers on nightmares and despair. If it seems too good to be true then....

When I was a young Padawan in NYC I bought a big ticket Omega watch in a perfectly plastic wrapped box for $20 that "fell off a truck". When I opened it to check out my new treasure I found out that it didn't even have dials and that it was empty of a mechanism inside. It had no guts but was just a shell and wasn't even worth the 20 bucks I paid for the thing as it couldn't even tell time like even a $2 watch sold on Canal Street could. I was young and naive but learned that things aren't always what they seem.

Ok, this is my point of view: proaudioguy, tmktmk, etc and known on musical scene in Tunisia/France as T.M.K. is literally a thief, a scammer without any heart and shame (just read his subhuman lies) and a coward without any sense of honor (with me he tried to remove all youtube videos with his face on... but too late).

Those scammers live and prosper on the net for 3 reasons:

    1. because no one acts against them as a single for various reasons: police doesn't care for "small" imports/is very slow to move; acting agaist them without knowing where they live is overly complicated; someone scammed don't know how to "move" or what to do as a single but maybe he keeps infos usefull for other people scammed.... Solution: acting all together maybe something could be done...

    2. because it's too easy to change nickname, create a new account, new emails, here or elsewhere and start again (very little to do about this except for writing out some sort of "what to do and not to do" when buying from someone on the net). proaudioguy was "selling" his plugins in a French internet online market, and in other sites too...

    3. because they hide as much as possible their identity. And why? Because THEY KNOW they are cowards, thief, liers, scammers, and heartless (pratically a bunch of son of bitches), but remember: they laught at all these infamities but fear that someone else could know this. Who? Their relatives, parents, sons, wife(s), brothers, sisters, friends, clients (new or potential), colleagues. And this is more relevant as they want/wish be publicly known, like, for example, a musician/producer etc. Solution: let's spread all our infos about him to everybody so that he'll be induced from someone he knows (hopefully a bit more honest than him) to stop his/their criminal actions. If i'm a Tunisian police member do i really want our honor and work be mocked by such a man? On a public board with all the proofs of what he has done? If i'm a musician, do i really want my name be associated to such a heartless scammer? What would be my credibility as a musician with such a scammer in my credits? proaudioguy, for example, keeps on playing, touring, producing etc. But do really all those colleagues are like him and support his criminal actions?
Is this what they want to be know for or the honesty of their music and soul? If i'm not mistaken there's somewhere a video with some sort of muslim preaching that has credits of this scammer for mixing audio or something like that...

So the idea is... if there's no way to have our money back or to put them in jail, let's help any other people to know who stoled money to us, and how. Let's create a sticked "wall of fame" where collect every evidence, info, phone number, email, address, pictures, videos etc we have of those scammers. Let's defend us and let them live a less hidden second life. Let's help them to be known on the net for what they are, so that their sons, parents, friends can read what a motherfucker is that scammer... what else we can do? Any better idea?

Hi all, sorry I'm late to the thread.

This guy sold me a stolen Arturia V collection as James Doran. Arturia support confirmed the license was stolen and the original owner reclaimed it. From what I'm reading of others accounts the address and other personal information I have is surely either fake or a stolen identity. The bank account I transferred money to is through a UK service called Pockit. They allow you to set up a pre-paid account with no credit check or photo id. I've reported the fraud to that service, but they haven't asked me for any details or proof. I used Xoom for the transfer, I don't think I have any recourse from them.

That KVR thread @odod shared is a trip. looks like this guy has been at it for a while.
