Did the whole rescan with Alt, everything, Live doesn't see VST2 or VST3. Weird shit and frustrating.

EDIT: So I guess new Live scans are slower, so I did find the VST 2 versions, but VST3 versions deffo are not being seen. Ugghhh.

Did you also check the boxes for VST3? In Ableton you can set your own VST3 order.

    2022-05-20_215421.jpg

    VST3:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\TBProAudio

    Choose Your Install Folder
When you've reached the install destination path stage in the plugin installer, it's time to select your install folders. These folders can be anywhere, but Ableton generally looks for these in set folder paths. For simplicity, we will go with the folders they recommend.

Ableton recommends using these folders for VST plugin installation:

    • C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins - 64-bit VST2 plug-ins.
    • C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 - 64-bit VST3 plug-ins. (Live 10.1 and later).
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\VSTPlugins - 32-bit plug-ins.

Thanks for... this, but let's pretend I've been using Ableton since version 1, I'm quite knowledgeable with Live. Now u might see my dilemma. To be precise, it's worked fine since Ableton has been supporting VST 3. Live 11.1.15 somehow messed things up with TbPro plugs, at least the freebies using VST 3. I've uninstalled and reinstalled (I wrote above "everything", I kind of meant it!), Live just won't find the VST3 anymore. This happened specifically when I installed 11.1.15 (my default set has TB plugs in it), and works fine when I revert back to 11.1.11, which sucks, cause plugins were loading uberfast under 11.1.15.

This is one of the many reasons I always stay a COMPLETE version behind the current one when it comes to Live. I'm still using 10. Not only does it load fast without many bugs but nobody can tell the difference between versions 10 or 11 when I playback any work I've created.

I can't explain it. everything is fine in 11.1.11, but when I install 11.1.15, nothing changed, tb plugs are VST are gone. Downgrading back to 11.1.11 fixes the problem.

Ugghhh, it's DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!! I only use the freebies, Gsat, MVmeter2, and DPmeter, Ableton finds the vst2 fine, but the VST3 32 or 64 it won't find. It's extremely frustrating because I used MVmeter2 (the gain function which I've dialed in perfectly!) in so almost every track of every song I've made. track, also GSat and DP meter, but not as much. Makes no friggin sense!

Read this carefully, he is looking for 32 bit plugins, hence this answer.

Hello, my friend. There is no Ableton Live version 11.1.15. I think u mean the latest version 11.1.5. Pluginscanner of this version is bugged. The plugin scanner hangs on scanning and does not find the plugs. It's not only u. Its the version. We have to wait for a hotfix or the next update.

How to fix VSTs not showing up in Ableton live 10.1.35 (works with live 11 too see description)

    How To

( I know i misspelled some stuff oh well not fixing it ) FASTER instructions Down HERE ↓↓↓↓ [THIS IS A LAST RESORT FIX] recent installation of Ableton bug as of (5/30/2021) VSTs were not showing up

    WORKS WITH LIVE 11 TOO
just get the updated install file of live 11 from your ableton account and i forget if it does it on its own or you have to select to keep your preferences from an option in the install wizard (idk if live 11 is also bugged though i just know this fix still works if you decide to upgrade)

    Fix:
Create new folder in C:\Program Files\(NEW FOLDER)
    and open NEW FOLDER
open the folder where you installed your VSTs x64
    Default folders:
    C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VstPlugins\
    or
    C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins
COPY and PASTE all VSTs that don't work from Default folder to the NEW FOLDER you created
Go to preferences menu in Ableton and change the VST2 plug-in custom folder to the path for your NEW FOLDER

    IMPORTANT:
If you get an error saying your vst is in the wrong folder after moving it to the NEW FOLDER just delete it and reinstall the VST3 version but in the wizard change the installation path to the NEW FOLDER
Leave working VSTs in original VST3 folder alone
Also be sure to turn on default folder for VST3

[THIS IS A LAST RESORT FIX]
Hopefully Ableton fixes this soon and all you have to do is update

He said it doesn’t find the 64 but plug-ins neither, so I don’t think this article relates to his problem

Problems here with max devices too: they simply don't show in the browser in this version of Live on my system (just the editor/creator thing from max, but not the devices that come built in). I have Live 10 installed too, and all devices are there.

Uninstall and install again as shown in the picture!
    2022-05-22_113259.jpg

    VST/AU plug-in doesn't appear in Live's Browser

    1. deactivate the Plug-In folder, then activate it again.
Open Live "s Preferences --> Plug-Ins (from Live 10.1) or File/Folder (for all Live versions up to 10.1)--> Plug-In Sources.
Deactivate the Plug-In folder, then activate it again. Wait until the scanning is finished, then check the browser list. You can also do a complete rescan of all installed plug-ins instead by holding down ALT/Option and clicking on "Rescan Plug-Ins".

    2. make sure you have activated the right plug-in sources
You must have installed the plug-in in the folder you selected in the preferences.

    Windows

    2022-05-22_145423.jpg

    - If you are using VST3, activate the system folder.
    - If you use your own plugin folder, click on "Browse" and select it

If you are using the VST2 or VST3 plug-in system folder, enable it.
If you are using a custom plug-in folder, browse and select that folder and enable it.

3.Make sure you have the correct version installed (32-bit or 64-bit).

    - Live 10 only supports 64-bit, so 32-bit plug-ins will not show up in Live 10's browser.
    - Similarly, 64-bit plug-ins will not show up in the browser when using the 32-bit version of Live 9.
Some newer plug-ins are only available in 64-bit (e.g. Kontakt from version 5.1)

@macros I have a temporary fix. Just install 11.1 and copy the pluginscanner.exe from it to the 11.1.5 versions folder accordingly and overwrite it. It works.

the three plugins from TBpro i have transferred when i changed to 11.1.5... vst3 64 bit. i mean like beat16 said make sure you have your folders set like that then wipe and reinstall the thbpro vst3's... that SHOULD work. i use wise uninstall, dunno if it really matters but if makes me feel better when it says it deletes a bunch of registry stuff or whatnot attached to the programs i uninstall- i theorize this leads to less issues as i pile new versions of the same program on top of each other.

no 32bit for a long time, and i'd be sure to not have any 32 bit in the 64 bit vst folders because knowing ableton thats not gonna help anything. and i'd go through and make sure there wasn't a folder with a bunch of data in the vst locations... i don't think that's helpful either.

none of that advice is new of course- i know you said you'd been using ableton since version 1- but the most recent change log specifically mentioned that custom vst folders were behaving "as they should" now or something similar, which makes me think your TBpro plugins were working "as they shouldn't" as it were before that change. if you didn't see that part of the update log go check it out see if it illuminates the situation maybe.

My fix: Even though TBPro VST3 64 (@BEAT16 while I was noting 32 bit but the actuality is while 32-bit isn't supported, 64 bit is, and I noted 64 bit does not work either, but I digress), even though TBpro VST3 install under Windows C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 directory, Ableton still could not find it. So what I did was direct Abletons Custom VST3 scan to TBPro's folder, which I was unaware I could do (I thought it was either/or, System folder OR Custom folder, but u can do both, go figure) and THEN Ableton found it. Very strange, because the rest of my VST3s are ope folder deep (their own specific install folders) in the VST3 folder, and Ableton finds them, but cannot find TBPro stuff. But this works, I don't know why Ableton cant find ONLY TBPro stuff in the VST3 directory that is under its install folder but there u go.

Also, I tried to install the TBPro stuff WITHOUT their install folder, so just under C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3, still didn't work, can't find it. Crazy shit.
