Addiction happens in the brain, so no, it doesn't make a difference.

the internet just makes everything faster, easier, constantly available, and amplified. so for people who have problems, it's usually worse. it's also easier for them to be more secretive and get away with it for longer before others may notice the behavior.

Since I can't get high or drunk on the Internet, I'm going to focus on porn. If you're an imaginative person and horny like me, it can help you a lot. I love porn. And btw. I actually wouldn't pay for the real experience even if I had the money. I'm also married. She doesn't mind watching porn with me.

Gambling? Those are just cretins who doesn't understand or don't want to understand the truth behind these games. I really pity them, but on the other hand everyone is different and I can't blame them, I suppose. People are addictive. How about religion? That's pretty close to gambling in my mind. Far more than porn. Religion is dangerous and it brings profit to a lot of lazy and unimaginative or uneducated people.

Facebook? If you're addicted to online socialising, you really have to get your life back. It's like drugs, and it's hard to get back. I've been through it and it feels so much better without constant distractions. I can finally focus on what's important. Same goes for smartphones. I have a land line. Whoever wants to call me has to use it. Consider that I'm into computer maintenance... I'd lose half of my life explaining people things they cannot possibly understand over the phone. It's using my time that I give out for free. You want computer maintenance? Call me, and I'll visit you. For a fee.

    Cheers!

you can develop an addiction with everything. (chewing bubble gum for example or twerking). It is a brain thing, some people are just more seductive to such things.

I agree on the thought that the internet makes it easier. I mean look, if you find a way to create a wallet with money, which you could go on to gamble - you could possibly develop easier an online gambling addiction than in real life. (highly constructed thing)

Another problem i see is that you either get things easier for free, very very easy and fast (porn) or you just buy for it, if its not available ... And it feels like digital money is faster spend than real physical money, because its just a number - no actual physical presents, which you can attributed with ...

And you dont even need to go out of the house to "enjoy" your addiction ... nobody would notice.

So yeah the internet does make easier, but otherwise there is no difference.

the internet is way more dangerous for a gambler. look at day traders.

I think post-covid in real casino poker might be an interesting twist on the game. "Sir, if you are vaccinated you can remove the mask". " Oh, I already know that".

I'm killing myself in the previous thread to explain about the chords, and then you're asking about addiction. I think you don't care about the answers to your questions... Maybe one of the big symptoms of being form the Generation Z.

The biggest addicion in todays society is the cell phone, you see mindless morons everywhere totaly oblivious to everything, crossing streets without looking or at the traffic lights, walking into you even if you are disabled and then cursing at you saying its all your fault, or standing around like a bunch of clusterfucks all on their phones blocking sidewalks and too ignorant to step aside, they texting in their cars and not paying attention to traffic or lights, even when the're going for a shit in public toilets their, it's just infuriating. I often discuss this with friends and we all would like to see a massive event that would fry all cell phone towers. I know for sure these mindless idiots would be totally lost without their cell dildos. My cell is used only when absolutely necessary and needed or for emergencies, I don't waste my life on it, I visit friends and associates in person.

Great video. In the 21st century, addiction to the Internet and gadgets has become one of the most important issues that is being discussed more and more often. It seems to me that online addiction is a form of slavery. On the site https://paperap.com/free-papers/slavery/ I read several studies on modern slavery. Indeed, even the ancient Greeks said that if you are dependent on something material, this is a form of slavery.

as for online addictions, I think they're easier to overcome. I play casino and I have never had the urge to spend more than $10. it's just for testing luck and some cheap dopamine :)

Kinda true but not really. Addiction isn't just compulsive, long term use, or dependence. Addiction is compulsive use in the face of repeated negative consequences. Which is why we don't see rehab for twerking and bubblegum addicts.

I'm reminded of a seminar I attended many years ago. The middle aged, middle class woman who was presenting is making the same point that you made, "Anyone can get addicted to anything", she says. "Take me. I'm personally addicted to chocolate."

A young woman is sat in the front row. Her earlier interventions have made it pretty clear that she's in early recovery, having started the process in prison. Hearing the speaker's point, she snorts in disbelief.

"Yeah. Come back and see me when you start jumping over sweet shop counters and holding a knife to the shopkeeper's throat because you're in desperate need of a fucking Twix."

It is easy to get into a bad habit and a lot more difficult to get out of it.

So you created an account just to boost a gambling site in an addiction thread?

You know what, fuck off buddy.

the point you are making is based on the morale statue, which the person has. I mean would you commit a crime to get that bubble gum for example? And i would simply say, this depends on the parental conditioning, how to deal with inner stress, inner friction ... can you surpresses it on your own or do you need other for you to alter the behaviour.

Addiction are multi-layered - basic behaviour plays in, learned values, reward system, enviroments you experienced, morales, self control, etc and here comes the seduction comment in made! Are you able to self control you or can you easy self seduct you?

Therefore yes you can get addicted to everything, but it depends on a lot of conditions.
