Version 2.0ß is now posted (see post #1). You can now install and remove libraries directly. A few other bits have been added too.
@spncart… you probably shouldn't waste your time or effort with this as you rule !

 

Great work Fred. Keep it up. Don't worry about that bug with the wallpaper. I, too, haven't experienced it again. Very strange. Anyway, I'm really enjoying/appreciating your app. Haven't tried your new beta with the adder/remover included yet, but I will.

Hey Fred. Just letting you know that the 'add library' part of your new beta isn't working for me at all. It seems to think it's doing it, but there's no resulting plist in preferences or xml in service centre and the library does not show in Kontakt. So I'm still using your tool for the nicnt creation, but then Kitty's script for the adding at the moment.

Also, (and this isn't your problem of fault), but it's worth mentioning for anyone else reading this who is making their own libraries, I have run into a few occasions now where, for whatever reason, the 5 digit SNPID doesn't work. I've had to change it to a 3 digit one for it to show up in Kontakt. On a few occasions. Mostly it seems to be fine, but I've had maybe 2 or 3 recently where I had to change the SNPID to 3 digits.

So if you're doing everything right and you're using this useful tool from Fred but the library still isn't showing, this could be the reason.

 

The 5 digit/3 digit thing seems to be that Kontakt only uses the first 3 (the left most 3 characters) of the SNPID when matching against the library. The most recent entry "wins" if there is a collision.

For example, say you have two libraries with SNPID = 12345 and SNPID = 12346.
These will look the same when matching against previous installed libraries since they both reduce to 123.
And library with 123 or 123nn already installed will be de-referenced and "disappear" when the new one is installed.

 

Well Kontakt 5+ did, and the new product is now just called Kontakt since 6 arrived.
So do you not mean it the other way around, IE. K5 uses only the first 3 digits of the SNPID # ?

 

You are correct. I'm currently using Kontakt 6 for accessing my libraries and K5 only for adding. So K5 is limiting me that way. Good catch.

Yeah that would make some sense re the first three digits, except if that's no longer a thing for Kontakt 6+, then that can't be the reason I'm seeing that behaviour. Because I'm not even using K5 to add these days. I'm using the scripts. I had it with another library I added last night actually. So the last 4 or so libraries I've added I've needed to delete the nicnt and make a new one with just 3 digits. Just editing the xml and the nicnt to 3 digits didn't work. I had to remake the library from scratch.

 

Hey Fred,

The NICNT Creator app no longer wants to launch as of Big Sur version 11.4. Not sure why. When you open it, nothing happens. Like, it fails to launch.

I'm getting this error when I try and run the executable contained in the app package directly in Terminal:


Creator.app/Contents/Resources/script: execution error: Can’t make "Retina" into type number. (-1700)

Is there any way not to use Kontakt 5 for add a library? I can not add library through Kontakt 5.. (I'm using Catalina)

You need [K]ed version of kontakt, not legit!
