    I used to have ST1 v3 along with v4...

But "the clean install" mentioned in the not of the latest R2R release 'ST1 v5.2.0',
that for a clean install you need to delete everything presonus including \ProgramData\PreSonus...
I already have v4.6 data in there...

So, can I installboth and if so how can I do that?

"All of a sudden I have a bad feeling about this..." ;/

they have to be on different folders: studio one 5, on a folder on the same name.... the same thing is for the other version. if my mind serves me right, the installer let you choose the place to install the daw

.... and u can open your "old" songs in S1 5 , but if u save them in S1 5 , u will probably not be able open them again in S1 4.xx .
Studio one will tell you when saving.
Do as Ariel said , and in the second dialog , where it asks where to put the vst´s , -point to where ur mometary vstfolder for 4.xx is.
Mostly, the installexe displays that already... but always check.

I can choose the main program folder and VST folder but I have no saying, how all the other stuff going to be installed in \AppData\ & \ProgData\. There are "mutual" Presonus Folders in those locations which contains a 'Studio One 4' folder so there will be a separate ST5 folder as well. However all the other stuff are mutual. Like 'Extensions' , 'Cross platform Framework', 'Hub' 'Licenses'...
When I install v5 I'm afraid it will right over that stuff as well as creating a 'ST1 v5 Folder'
    next to ST1 v4 Folder...

I use "no install" versions of both, so I can look that "overlapping" for you. But like @cemster said it's probably gonna be some folders shared so only one can work fine.

Edited: I deleted the v4 one, no luck

I dont see your worries ?
-go to C:\Program Files\PreSonus ( if thats the location where your 4.6 is )
-Create a folder named "Studio One 5.2"
    -Install in there.
-point to your vstfolder ( mostly found by installer - correct if not)

Yes, there will be created a seperate folder in C:\ProgramData\PreSonus named "Studio One 5"
with two files in it: installhistory.xml and user.license

and in C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\PreSonus\ -also named "Studio One 5"
with a new bunch of files.

So its a complete new Application install , wich does not affect your 4.6 install.
    you can still run 4.6.
Some time ago i ran the deinstaller for the 3.5 Version , having 4.6 and 5 still there.
    went absolutly smooth.
Still have 4.6 and 5 side by side.

@Beetlejuice Confusing... but good to know... I think I should take an image and then do it though... One PC's experience is not always the same as the next PC's experience... Thank you for clarification...

By the way a little off topic, Assuming you have v5.2, did you instal v5.1 first and then install v5.2 on top of it? Some says you should instal v5.2 without 'uninstalling' v5.1 to make it work...

@Xupito thank you for taking time for the experiment, appreciated...

FWIW these are all the folders S1 v5 uses
    Code:
    +---PROGRAMDATA
    | \---PreSonus
    | +---CCL Cross-platform Framework
    | +---Extensions
    | +---License Store
    | +---Studio One 5
    | \---Subscription
    +---PROGRAMFILES
    | \---PreSonus.StudioOne5
    +---USERPROFILE
    | +---AppData
    | | \---Roaming
    | | \---PreSonus
    | | +---Plug-in Scanner
    | | \---Studio One 5
    | \---Documents
    | \---Studio One
    | \---Macros

    Notes:
    1. I installed it in C:\Program Files\Presonus.StudioOne5
    2. USERPROFILE is C:\Users\<YourWindowsUserNameHere>

As you can see there're shared folders, meaning not everything is under a folder including the version. That doesn't mean there's gonna be conflicts.
Anyhow, what @Beetlejuice says about no problems makes sense. Typically different major versions of software can coexist. Kontakt is a famous example.
Despite that you're right in being cautious.

    I installed 5.2.0 beside 5.0.1 , not over it .
I think that the 5.2.0 version from your favourite ziztersite , is a standalone, complete Version.
(without some of the Instrumentpacks and loops, as usual)
-havent heard about deinstalling or needing 5.1.0 first .
Dont know about 5.1.0 though. Never had that version.

I am not sure what you meant by "I installed 5.2.0 beside 5.0.1"... Beside, kind of means you had both of them.
But you also said: "Dont know about 5.1.0 though. Never had that version."
    So I am confused...

    Folders.jpg Folders.jpg

I have 3 working SO programms. I never DE-installed them. They all work. I never had version 5.1.0
Before I run ANY App -Installer , I create a Folder for it.
Then i run the App-Installer, and Install into the above - from me created -folder.
The 3 folders to the right are created by me and are located in:
    C:\Program Files\PreSonus\

I see... Well, in a way that's what I do. But I only create a specific folder, if the installer app poıints to a weird location, then which I'm forced to change it as I like...

Seeing the the Studio One ST1 collection in your system made me very curious... Why?
What is the workflow that involves all three versions?

By the way, I am very curious to see how the 'AppData\Presonus' & 'ProgramData\Presonus' look like in y our system.

I am making to many queries but can't help it! :)
It's very intriguing for me, and thank you for dabbling with my little issue, I do appreciate that...

progDATA.jpg roaming.jpg here u go. pretty same as Xupitos post.
No , no workflow at all having both versions installed , just havent deinstalled 4.6 yet.
but I did deinstall 3.5 ,-as mentioned above- , some time ago , and yes: -of course I had concerns about if it would deinstall my vst-folder.
but i did not. Maybe because i had 4.6 allready installed , so maybe windows noticed that I would need the vstfolder further on.
and even no KG needed for installing 5.2.0.
ok - every system is different but:

Youve done it before- you can do it again !
    no risk no fun :bleh:
Backup your important files, girlfriends , etc..
    and hit the silk:yes:
