    Hi all,
i desperately need your help guys.
Live10 was working fine, until I accidentally run the prog with the firewall off and auto update on, so it called home updating itself.
I uninstalled it, cleaned all leftovers, did a fresh install but no success... only the official demos work now, any other versions from sister site freeze and close.
    Any help appreciated.
    I'm on win10.

You did not clean all the leftovers. That is the reason why it does not work. Run Regscanner, and Ultrasearch, using Ableton as search term. Only then reinstall. I would have told you to delete certain files but your several installs have left to many registry entries to take a chance.

Thank you for your help Pirate, i'm trying for days now, unfortunately nothing seems to work...
You are probably right about that.
I was trying to delete those registry keys with regedit, Regscanner is a way better tool.
From the 220 reg keys found, the 38 can not be deleted, maybe that is the problem.
I even tried in safe mode.
i've installed every version, from v1.0.1 to v1.1.14 always the same result, program starts frozen and then closes.
The only way to start ableton is when i let it call home and update.
I'm pretty sure it wrote something in the registry, but can not find where.
Anyways, let me grab the opportunity and thank you again, for all your good work on sister site.

Are you running regedit with elevated privileges?

You may need to run with psexec

If regscanner tells you it cannot delete some entries, if you double click on the entry, on the right pane, it will open Regedit at that exact entry.
You can now delete that key.

But be careful. You should control if that key corresponds to whatever you are looking for.
What I do, when regscanner launches regedit, in the regedit app, I click on LEFT SHIFT + LEFT TAB, that way, the 'folder' on the left becomes highlighted.
You can now see if the key on the right and the left both belong to 'ableton'.

Another thing, even though we start the registry with admin privileges, some keys might be impossible to delete.
But the registry is a bit like the windows explorer. You can also set different permissions to the registry keys... read...modify..etc.

However, some keys, like the Sam, where user passwords and other stuff are stored, cannot be deleted.

Run as administrator but dont worry if there is any left, once you close Regscanner the majority that you need will be gone. Check your PM

As I told @Klefths , he had failed to delete all files, and registry entries belonging to Live. By way of TeamViewer, I proceeded to delete all registry entries using REGASCANNER as an administrator. That was followed by removing all files left behind by previous installations. For this part of the job I used ULTRASEARCH. In both programs, the search was conducted using Ableton as the search term. After a system restart, Live was reinstalled, blocked and authorized. Program scanned the plugins, and it is working.

A similar issue was explored, and similarly solved at https://audiosex.pro/threads/ableto...ng-down-and-scanning.50400/page-2#post-428326
