Go big live and use some 10 naked girls & boys on stage (for no sexual discrimination bla, bla ...) that for sure work.

How's that Dunning-KrugerPremiumBusinessingTutorielz.lol degree working for you?
A few [grant you, subtle] differences between shoe companies and premium music tutorial websites to get you started:

    1. 7 billion + people on this planet; each needs at least 1 pair of shoes.
Not the case with music tutorials.

    2. Shoes are a consumable good -- they wear out &, in time, must be replaced.
    Much unlike music tutorials.

    3. While, on occasion, one may procure a pair of free kicks, this is not the norm. When free shoes become as plentiful as free ~~gaming~~ music tutorials, shoe manufacturers would be forced to rethink their business model. Possibly by pivoting to premium music tutorial production, where the real money's at.

Get a job. Mom's tired of supporting her little ~~broducer~~ serial entrepreneur, needs her basement back.

Look, there are plenty of qualified people who actually WANT to teach music -- producers, engineers, classically trained musicians, badass players, hasbeens who fronted bands -- people who *made* it in music & actually know what they're talking about. They want to share what they know -- not to stack shekels like OP, but because THEY WANT TO TEACH, want to do it in the same sense that people want to draw or jam or fuck. They should teach. Not OP (whose only qualification, as I understand it, is inability to make money with music).

TL;DR: "Those who can't do, teach" is not meant to be career advice.

If you want money, become a prostitute, if you want to be a musician, make music.

If you're a programmer by trade stick with that as your day job and do music as a hobby. Quite frankly unless you're in the 1% or less in the industry you'll make more cash long-term from coding than music and that's coming from someone who works in IT and is signed to multiple labels. There is literally next to zero cash in music for most producers.

You'll make more cash by building a massive YouTube following but to do that you need to be creating things like soundbanks and other tangible things for your fans to buy. There's a guy on YouTube (Zen World) who openly admits to making $100k+ but he creates good content for multiple genres and sells very good genre-specific soundbanks. He did a techno one a while back and mentioned he'd sold 800 copies in a couple of days from launch - that was almost $20k from one soundbank because he sells it all direct via his own website.

Yeah, what Bitmonkey said. You'll make more money selling things to people trying to make music than you will from music sales. There's a guy from Morcheeba on GS, selling some of his samples, quite a huge amount, 6/7GB for £20. If he were to sell 1,000 copies....

You made enough to get a burger? I am impressed. Most people are doing well when they can buy a cup of coffee.

I had the same goal as you. Not 3k btw since the cost of life is lower here. I quickly realized that there was no way to make that kind of money with my band. A video from seamlessr changed my life. He made some videos giving general advice and he was saying that he makes money from various music related sources. Tutoring, youtube, samples etc. So I decided to do the same thing. I became a freelancer producer, a stock music producer and also I sell music assets on various marketplaces. All those things end up giving me 1.5k per month give or take. These are more than enough for me. But who knows what the future will hold? This is not something secure. But the last 5 years are the best of my life. I do the thing I love and I am getting paid.

Nobody knows if you can make 3k. Do you have the money to feed yourself while you are trying to succeed? This is so important. Also an important stuff for me is not having another option. I have to make it happen or I will starve. This will make you make the right choices.

maybe its already said above but the problem with that approach is you then will be getting into where the "big bucks" are, and that's the same place where everybody else is trying to fish.

whilst doing something you really feel will conduct you to excel in that area. this is something you ought to know already.

a steady income could be to do practical stuff, what many see as "boring" stuff. samples, mixing for others etc.

if you already are making money in 80s synthwave then you are in the right lane! meaning there you will sooner or later come up with alternatives that look more promising. you make way by walking

i dont think its something one can learn from a post like this im afraid. but i understand if you are just exercising your thoughts by posting, i do the same from time to time.
