    Free update, as usual with AA, for owners of Gold 2....Big update, detailled here. "Only" 60€ for the time being.

    A Golden Legend.

    Gold3 is a VST/AAX/AU plug-in suite representing the ultimate choice for anyone willing to incorporate the sound of legendary vintage British consoles into their workflow.

    Gold3 now includes 8 different equalizers, 2 extremely rare compressors, 7 preamplifiers (for a total of 52 preamplifiers available inside the GOLD3PRE standalone version).
    To provide you with such an extensive choice, we took a small trip to Tambourine Studios in Malmo, Sweden, to sample the extra models off a beautiful console - the same where all of the Cardigans' albums were produced - and formerly owned by Swedish super-producer Tore Johansson (a-ha, Tom Jones, Anouk, Melanie C).

    Gold provides you with a complete virtual console emulation, and a useful routing control section, making this one of the most comprehensive Acqua plug-ins we created.

    Analog.

    “It’s no secret that the sound of our creations is different from all the others. Nobody can deny that they are unique in just about every respect. Our approach is based on sampling. By using FIR filters we have also a clean, almost alias free signal with a beautiful frequency/phase response up to Nyquist frequency. Long kernels allow to reduce ripple without introducing the typical errors of IIR implementations (no oversampling needed, no de-cramp filters, no lowpass filters, no phase issues or approximations”. Giancarlo Del Sordo - CEO

    Dreamware.

    Calling our plugins digital emulations would be an understatement. They belong to a completely new dimension, which we called Dreamware. It transcends both analog and digital giving you access to a cutting-edge technology that marks a revolution in the audio industry.

    Anthology.

    Our Anthology captures the spirit and essence of our plug-ins. The goal was to provide all our users with the best collection of vintage hardware. We are improving on our own technology day after day, in order to create the most faithful emulations on the market, striving for perfection.

    Details

    GOLD 3 consists of:

    • GOLD3 (Channel-strip):
    • GOLD3 PRE (standalone preamps module)
    • GOLD3 EQ (Equalizer standalone module);
    • GOLD3 COMP (standalone compressor module);

    To help you fully unleash the true potential of your mixes, you can use the individual modules of GOLD3 channel strip as separate plugin processors, giving you the possibility to use each component separately, for even more versatility and a significant CPU optimization.

    For each plugin included in our GOLD3 suite there is a “Standard” version or an alternative “ZL*” version which operates at *zero latency at the cost of extra processing resources and is thus suitable for use when tracking.

    AA overdoes it with its GUI about as much as Chris underdoes it with its own "GUI"....:rofl:. Both release awesome plugs, albeit very different kind of things, it's what they share

    Acustica must deal with its latency and CPU hungry plugins, i understand the Dreamware, but i drteam loading one of these on every channel, or almost, you cannot load many instances of these lets face it, it could be good for mastering but not realtime working, so its pretty much useless, PA has launched a similar plugin with TMT by Lindell and LSR Audio, that must be very good since PA plugins are pretty much CPU friendly stuff compared to this ...dont get me wrong, but there is a difference that is abbisal when you compare

    I don't know what's your setup (cpu, ram, OS, etc), your daw. I always run my acquas in Reaper or Cubase, I have an okay CPU (6700k), 32 g of ram, I run those on my channels, on my buses as I'm writting. 8 of those running at the same time (eqs right now), 4 cobalts dyn eqs, 5 cobalt comps, I have violet and Pearl 2 on the master, and several others acquas on the drum bus, as well as axis eq, kaya (also "hard" on the cpu) and Omega N. That's in addition with 20 equilibrium instances, 10 compassions, all my instruments, samplers and sequencers inserted. I'm at 50% of my CPU. Under Reaper.
    If that's unusable plugs then well....I want more of those. With the new version I don't even have latency anymore when turning the knobs, etc.
    And indeed the P.A strips (I have two ssl and the neve) don't come close to the AA ones. You can also go for slate. Shitty sound but nice on the CPU. To each their own.

    I've been waiting on this!! Early Christmas!
    Hopefully, this won't crash my DAW after a project hits 16GB like Gold2 was doing.
    @virusg, it's true, they are very CPU hungry. I deal with this by freezing tracks. Not the most ideal way to work, but I can run roughly 16 instances (dependent of course on what other plugs are running) in an unfrozen state before my system starts chattering. That's usually enough for me to be working on several tracks at once doing eq balancing and such, running some reverb busses, drum bus and master bus. Give my ears a break while freezing them, then move on to the next set of tracks.
    There is a reduced latency version of the plugin as well. Never used it myself. I'm not doing anything where latency is a concern.
    I understand, though. Acustica isn't for everyone. I especially don't like the licensing, but it has gotten much better with the introduction of Aquarius.
    It sure as hell beats buying a 35K console I obviously can't afford!
    This, Purple, and TimP's 1176 and I'm set!

    I own both. I got Navy because I was having issues with Gold2 after my projects hit 16Gb in size.
    I kinda prefer Gold to Navy sound-wise. I'm sure that's a matter of taste. As for usage and reliability, Navy was smoother turning knobs, and didn't crash my heavy projects.
    This was Gold2 against Navy2 though. Haven't gotten a chance to try Gold3 on a heavy project yet to see if it will crash it or if the knobs have gotten smoother.
    What's a good way to do this comparison?

    I never tried the earlier versions but I'd guess the knobs haven't got any smoother in version 3. Got a super new system: Intel 9900k overclocked to 5GHz in a Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme with 64Gb RAM and M.2 SSDs, and Gold 3 is a complete pain in the arse. Move a knob then wait a second to see where it ends up. The compression meters are useless as well. I put four of them into a project with nothing else and it takes almost two minutes to re-open. Ignoring the placebo effect of having spunked some cash on it, I think Big Ceil and Softube Console 1 are both better than this. If anybody is thinking of buying it, the recent "gift" email code from Acustica works with Gold 3 to knock a few quid more off the price.

    EDIT: Don't let my moaning put you off, my opinion has changed - details in later comment
