Hello all, since all are aware the 10.1.2 release by R2R has come out recently, after installing my Ableton Places has been completely empty from all folders (including user), no audio effects, no instruments or sounds, but third party plugins load, now even when i install older Ableton versions, it isn't restoring (so weird, i've tried downgrading till live 10.0.06 and uninstalled the previous, cleaned up Program Data, Roaming {in Users}, Local {in Users}), i've tried deleting all Ableton files and uninstalled multiple times, but still can't get it to work. what could've triggered this?

I have run with admin rights on every single trial, there were a few installs on external hard drives/other hard drives other than system (C:\)
but still not a thing showing up, checking the task manager on a few trials, i didn't find the indexer running as well, neither does the wheel above the places sign ever show up. And I can't revert back to a stable working ableton anymore it's so strange. No workaround about this issue since reinstalling other versions output the same screen.

 

I am not aware the 10.1.2 release by R2R was released.. ?

 

try to Remove Alb from Reg , then install it again and open it the first time without active it with authentication !
close it then open it again this time with Authentication

@Arya Banerjee Recently another member had problems after installing the r2r release. If you had other releases prior to this one the solutiommay very well be to reinstall it. my advice will be to follow the instructions from that thread https://audiosex.pro/threads/ableton-10-1-problems-shutting-down-and-scanning.50400/

 

I installed 10.1.2 over 10.1.0 with original installer from Ableton.
Doesn't have the effects you described.

@twoheart exactly so, i've had producer friends using the same release with no problems, it's so strange.

 

You are wrong, you've downloaded a fake release. Your computer is now compromised. Always download from the trusted sources. Anybody can upload a ransomware and rename it to keygen.exe .

hcsio was r2r based mac rls..patch by hcsio but keyg from r2r..so wack to put hscio team label on that...
..r4e pointed that out in comments that keygen is from r2r...he shared his patched win version thru pm then..
the hcsio rls is deleted now...

Yes it's deleted as AudioZ decided to respect R2R wish that their work was not posted as part of repacks....

To work on a solution I would save the cracked .exe in an other place.
Deinstall Live completely, reinstall the original that you can download from Ableton. Rename the cracked .exe file to something like "LiveCracked.exe" so you can use the original and the cracked version side by side. Would be interesting what will happen.

 

it was not R2R but hcsio , i download the same version works great just repack of r2r !

 

Just installed verified R2R release of v10.1.0, after cleaning registry with regscanner and uninstalling with REVO, same issue nothing shows up.

 

when its installed you need to open live and let it run for a few minutes until the program scans all devices, it is what i did when installing 10.1, give it 15 to 25 mins and they should appear

 

done and tried, many times.

 

UPDATE: Live 9 performing the same way, holy crap. This is definitely some folder index/integration issue, but very strange since I am ensuring admin rights and system default install locations, can this be another application (verified not many apps except vsts) that's halting the index somehow?

 

Did you try what @twoheart said? Install the demo and make sure everything works. At that point, if I were you, I would simply install the k'd version OVER it without uninstalling anything. This is only because, if I had been through what you have, I would just want to play. As for the whys and hows, I think @The Pirate would need to take a look at the innards of your OS.

 

The problem with that approach is that for whatever reason, in SOME INSTANCES Ableton fails to overwrite existing registry keys and values creating havoc. The member I helped in the previouls had over 90,000 of those. Im sure that what we are dealing here is a typical case of user error. The OP is not doing the right thing somewhere in the process. impretty busy nowadays but can give the OP 10 or 15 minutes of my time if he wants me to fix it for him. A PM to that effect has been sent to OP.
