Its sales patter, meaning there are tiny variances for each instance of the plugin you load, supposedly to recreate the minor variances found in each channel of a real mixer. If you can hear this your ears are better than mine....!

 

I have no idea why this is different from the method that Waves use on their NLS because it seems like TMT is patent pending.

Naaa, even 2 hardware distressors are hard to differentiate.

 

It's a subtle accumulative effect. Stick it on 40 channels and hit the Random All button a few times, they you will hear what is does.

 

another good way to hear those differences is equing guitar bus, especially high gain using the stereo mode in digital, so the 2 sides are identical, then change the stereo mode for analog

 

You should try Airwindows, they have some console emulation plugins too, and don't forget to add tape emulation if you are going for the analogue sound. I use Nebula for that, and they also have some console stuff. You can use them all at the same time if you want. Analogue chains in the real world can be fairly complex, with plenty of interaction between the various pieces of analogue gear.

I recently bought the brainworx E and G channel on sale for 50 bucks each and i don't regret it. I bought them because I really like the aggressiveness of the SSL EQs and wanted something else in the arsenal besides Waves SSL channel which has been around like 2006 or so and which I used for years. And for this price this was a no brainer.

I created a template in logic with the plugin inserted on each channel and ran some tracks through them. When changing the modeled channels you can hear subtle changes in the stereofield and in the depth of field for a lack of a better comparison. But it really is very subtle indeed. No one with untrained ears would probably notice it.

TMT is not really making a big difference but along with the other extra features the channel offers it makes this emulation stands out from the competitors. Definitely better than CLA mixhub which has strange bugs like not remembering settings and is way too heavy on the CPU for being a plugin you're supposed to insert up to 64 times.

 

Stereo channels modelling, like in analog world. Stereo imbalances, something like crosstalk or so, slightly imperfect analog stereo. For some analog 3D, stereo mojo, more vintage depth, maybe even awesome wrong depth, more analog vibe than digital.
Digital is perfect, "linear", ideal, even, no imperfections in stereo channel.
TDR SlickEQ M has that easter egg too (double click on TDR logo randomly changes sound, equalizing stereo signal with slight difference in L and R, about 0.1-0.3 dB)

I'm thinking this is a bit over the top. If you want analog technology then just buy analog technology. oh yeah, simulations are more profitable for the software companies selling snake oil (and cheaper for the consumer, but totally useless so it's still a waste of money)... makes me wonder what's next. Delay times on startup to simulate tubes warming up? Excessive power consumption? (it could be simulated with bad timing in the switching power supply, or just a high power resistor in parallel with the 5v line)... Perhaps an occasional random "tube" blowout that kills your plugin for a few days until you purchase a new "tube" at the company that sold you the plugin? .... okay, end rant, plugin company says it's time to take my snake oil

TMT is nothing special. You can do this with any plugin that allows you to access the appropriate parameters. For example, TMT on an eq means that despite the same settings, the Q factor and center frequency of the bands on each channel are slightly different. that's all. with a compressor, this means that with the same setting, the timings and curves are a little different for each channel.
this is the same as if you do only the basic settings with a dual mono eq or compressor in stereo-linked mode and then make in dual mono mode small deviations on one of the channels.

 

It's really nothing new or sophisticated as they seem to imply. In the analogue world, each component (capacitors, transistors, etc...) has a precision tolerance, which may vary from 20% to 2%, accordingly to its quality. So, that's why they say no hardware is the same.

Since BX stuff is component modeled, they simply insert a random modifier in each component according to its analog tolerance value of each plugin instance, which makes each instance sound slightly different.

Anyway, that's why they say that each analog hardware sounds different, which is mostly a myth, at least for premium hardware. There's something called QA (Quality Assurance), which means that each component is measured before assembly, to assure quality standards...Even custom guitar pedals makers do that, to assure quality control, let alone big premium hardware companies.

Good premium audio hardware (of the same model, of course) don't sound significantly different from each other just like the image quality of two identical TVs doesn't vary from one unit to another. It's the same principle.

Anyway, people buy into this stuff and the snake oil plugin industry, of course, takes advantage...In the end, it's just fancy skeuomorphic GUIs with basically the same EQ, compressor and saturation math as every other quality plugin out there.

Yeah it works. Its subtle though, but then again its the small things that can accumulate and shape the sound.

Isn't it simpler if one plugin does the job?
TMT is nothing special but does all the difference IMO.Digital sounds less sterile.
I don't know if you have tried all their "TMT" labelled plugins but they all sound sweet.Their Oberheim synth sounds really close to a true analog synth.

 

that is what I said. you can do that with any single dual-mono plugin.
I did not say the plugins did not sound good.
even if find that tmt sometimes should rather stay off.
