78rpm Records Digitized by George Blood, L.P.

Through the Great 78 Project the Internet Archive has begun to digitize 78rpm discs for preservation, research, and discovery with the help of George Blood, L.P.. 78s were mostly made from shellac, i.e., beetle resin, and were the brittle predecessors to the LP (microgroove) era

Just a trove of discovery, even for the dirtiest diggers :headbang::mad:
personal fav under topics & subjects: Hawaiian

word ...have already seen a ton of decca in this archive so far :deep_facepalm:

Meanwhile that AU article is pretty dark (2025 no more tape machines? Considering I have a few at my own place that seems a bit soon); but certainly relevant after that gd fire. Pay kids to back all this shit up... have them sign NDA's or whatever. the skill and style of western music lost in that fire will never be replicated :facepalm:oh its just such a fuckin downer

...beyond that; a magnetic bomb replaces nuclear in my world- EVERYTHING. WIPED. ...best get back to work

BUT... this post is actually cool and fun because there is so much to be unearthed in that archive alone

    Not only from Australia.

But I find this 'Mr Ficker says it is "very unlikely" that archives around the world could raise the capital to have tape machines manufactured again, even if they worked together.' hard to believe.
Maybe they should ask Richard Branson and the like for help. I'm sure this would be great PR (and reduce their taxes).

Or with Thurston Howell III financing the project, The Professor would make them out of coconuts. But then Gilligan would somehow ruin it.
