Senator Wyden (D-OR) has introduced the ACCESS to Recordings Act. It would extend full federal copyright protection to pre-1972 sound recordings,something the CLASSICS Act avoids. To be clear, the CLASSICS Act is being described as a "hack" that protects only the profitable aspects of copyright (streaming) while conveniently avoiding the unprofitable (a reasonable term length), the ACCESS to Recordings Act provides full, definite, and comprehensive legal protections for all players in the copyright ecosystem, while harmonizing the public domain and accessibility protections for legacy recordings. https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2018/06/04

@TonyG thank you for posting this. I don't know why so few members pay attention to these threads. It affects all involved in the music industry. I hope the lack of interest does not keep you from continuing with The Copyright Thread

 

@Luka This type of topic do not bring as much traffic for several reasons. Among them, some members do not reside in the United States. We, human and extraterrestrials alike, love controversy and here is not much room for it nor for trollers. Finally, copyright law is very complex for everyone to understand it which in itself makes it boring to the vast majority of people. The lack of interest is not going to deter me from continuing posting any new developments. If just one member benefits with what I wrote, the post has served its purpose.
