Any form of fanatism, whether driven by political beliefs, religion, life philosophies and even for music or for a sports team, may eventually lead to extremism. Temper any fanatism when it concerns anyone other than yourself, because any fanatic behavior may ultimately lead to extreme behavior. You may only decide for yourself to be fanatic about something and you should always respect anyone's taste, belief and opinion as long as they are no direct infraction on anyone. The moment things go wrong is when we think we are able to decide what's best for that other person without even listening to that other person. When beliefs (the word says it very correctly, it's a belief and not a 'know for certain') or political conviction is at hand, please be aware that it's an arguable point of view. Fanatism and extremism forces a point of view upon those who dare to differ from it, no dialogue, just a monologue. Hiding behind any interpretation of one of the world beliefs, political views or life philosophies bringing in arguments why your belief or interpretation is the only right one, is fanatism leading to extremism. You may have your emotions about something but never let your emotions have the better part of you. A dialogue means you are open to the point of view of the other person, a monologue clearly only defends your own uncertain belief. There is no single person walking this earth capable of taking in the superposition, seeing all and knowing all, having every answer to any question. Don't be arrogant pretending that you do coz that's when things go wrong.

 

Why is this thread not closed? Or even being moderated? It is being used for politics and bullying - things that cause other threads to be closed.

Just because the Mods might agree with the politics and just because they might be ideologically blinded to the bullying, that's no reason not to treat it the same as other political threads or other bullying: other threads get closed and folks get told off.

Why isn't that happening on this thread? Is it because the mods agree with it?

Well, that isn't on. No politics means no politics..........or does it mean "no politics unless we agree with them"? And "no bullying" unless we agree with it?

The rules of the forum say that "politics", "conspiracy theory" and "hate" have no place on the forum.

Why do those rules no longer apply? Are there any other forum rules I can now ignore?

Without knowing what the rules are, how can members possibly act appropriately?
