    Hi, how are you guys?

    I composed a 90-second piece of music.
As in the first piece I made, 90 seconds is the max duration following the rules of the contest I was participating in at that time.

I did it all by myself.

And please let me know what you think.
Constructive feedback is greatly appreciated.
So that I can improv better.

This is the result of mixing that has not been mastered

This is the result that I have mastered.
I'm still learning to make it better.

This is the mastering result of @No Avenger
Thank you so much for giving me advice.

I'm still looking for the right time to make a longer version if that's necessary.

I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Nice, very nice. Can't give mixing advice but sounds very good.
Trust @No Avenger advice on that (the one thing he doesn't suck at :winker::rofl:) and others here

What was the appropriate reply again, 'thank you' or 'bite me'? [IMG]

Well done! I like the drive of the picked line over the 3/4 (or whatever such time signature you have there). The counterpoint melodies are nicely introduced, and the whole structure/form is balanced. You could make a longer version, but you risk to ruin this "balance"..

I'm really not a mix/mastering expert, but from listener's point of view it seems that @No Avenger can turn, twist, bend, push etc. those knobs and faders the right way..;) The end result is really pleasant to listen to. :grooves:

Very nice. I really dig the foresty magic vibe, can't really complain about anything really BUT COMPLAIN I WILL CUS I'M AN ASSHOLE.

Nah, it's mostly perfect imo, but after the 1:04 mark a couple of things threw me off the experience.

One of those was the fact that pretty much every instrument that was not doing bass or percussion is doing the same melody, not exactly the same, but the same rythmically and motionwise, which feels a little thin specially when there's many notes one after the other (like around 1:09).

The next thing is that the strings attacks feel a little odd, as if they were mostly swells (specially in the 1:09 part, you can hear a dA-dA-dA-dA-dA instead of the Dadadadada that's implied by the rest of the instruments). Makes it sounds a bit artificial, and i get it because it's a sampled library, but since in the first section of the song everything sounds so natural, it's more noticeable.

That's it. Have a nice day, or night, whatever time of the day it is on Snowflakes.

That's sounds strangely arousing but true. There's a few things i could just blame on taste, but something i really liked on the cat's master that OP's lacked was that nice movement.

Must be using his Secret Weapon Plugin Mastering Chain™ again. We should put him on an AI blender to squeeze out all the workflows and knowledges on his brain and make presets and then sell them to the sister site in the most malevolous fashion. Just sayin'.

    Thank you for listening

    He's such a genius.

Thank you for listening to my music.
Thanks for the many cool suggestions.

    Thank you for listening

I used a 6/8 time signature on Cubase. I don't know if that's right, but so far it's working well for my purposes.

I was thinking the same thing.
Do I have to stretch the duration of the music just to make it longer?
I don't know, but I want to try it when I have the right time.

    Agree

    Thank you for listening

Maybe you're right. I'm in the process of learning the correct arrangement of the orchestra. I still haven't found a tutorial on orchestra using midi that suits me on Youtube. Maybe you have a suggestion?

    Yes, I think you're right.
I'm using the minified version of Spitfire Studio Strings Professional. I don't know if it fits the situation of this song.
Henceforth, I'm interested in TSS to make music using orchestra strings. What do you think? Do you have any other suggestions that make sense for now.

I wonder what is the most realistic legato string in the sample library?

    Many thanks. You too :mates:

    Thank you for listening

Sadly no, all i've seen are outside-youtube courses that barely touch the suject of midi if at all.

I've never tried TSS so...:dunno:. Sounds weeb as fuck though. I like it.

I'd say orchestral tools berlin strings and CSS (CSS having probably the best and easier to set up legato imo at the cost of sounding pretty dark). The thing is, i think you could also get away with using some sustain patches on this one, have you tried that with the libraries you have?

    This made me lol

    :rofl::rofl:
I'm interested maybe because the music I'm working on happens to be a bit oriental. Maybe.

Too bad I don't have one.

    I have the lite version.
But for some reason it seems like I haven't done any deep tweaks to get the sound I want.
Meanwhile, the production time for this music from A to Z is very limited. I only have a few days left to work on everything.

Do you mean by Spitfire Studio Strings Professional? If so, I used the "Long" articulation and ignored the "Legato Slurred", "Long CS", and "Long Flautando" articulations. Those are the only long articulations options I have.

If you mean other libraries, I've tried those too. Especially with MSS and Nucleus. But I forgot why I ended up not using MSS and Nucleus.
