i wrote them a mail back in the days like in the beginning. They responded, that most of the commands are not optimized for audio stuff. Therefore they want (did) to drop this whole idea.

I guess they implemented by now what they could and what worked well without spending a sh*tload of coding time to make it work.

So i guess the dream is gone to use a GPU which handles all the intensive audio stuff like IR and stuff.

The gpu memory is used to calc stuff like shaders, specific graphics stuff, the whole structure is different from normal Memory.
the newer CPU/GPU-fusion tries to unify this, also shorter transport ways.

Hmm so i doubt we will be able to use GPUs significant in the near future with our DAWs.

I think I commented it before. With shared CPU/GPU RAM and all in the same chip the M1 is the best architecture suited to use the GPU for real-time CPU computations.

albert001, braingines offer a test of their work. its a pity, that i use a very old nvidia quadro card (for multi monitors). but if youve got a reasonable graphics card, why dont you test the system? they offer an "essential set of tools for daily work", im looking forward for some tests!
btw, while requesting youve to answer some questions. remarkable: "Plugin Subscriptions - do you like this, or prefer to own?"

Very interesting that all is, and ofc very promising, but I could not prevent my poor apparatus from reading "Braingines" very wrong, as I read "Unigine" wrong back in the day, somebody here may already know how this works, you read a word and for the fraction of a second you read another word and that word read for millisec before bio-autocorrection taps in is totally a male word-thing.
However, since the founders of the company seem to be Russians, and I like Russia and Russians very much and feel my self near to them by soul, so I speculate, they may have thought when it came to decide their companie's name, they have simultanely thought about what Russians think very often, sometimes solely about, and they called the company VA-gines, of course VA stands for Virtual Audio or Vectoral Audio. Naturally, they then opened a bottle or six of fine vodka over the companys' great new name, and on the next day when they got their consciousness back, they realized that va-gines may not be so good in the serious world of business, so, since all things related to Eros (not the Asteroid with Julie Mao on board) come from the brain, finally (they were a bit sad about it) they called it braingines.

This gotta be one of the hardest posts to rate in my entire life.
Ass a mother of fuck... sorry... as a matter of fact the deciding factor was the reference to that great show. BTW, screw Julie, her sister is the real deal.
Too bad this season is weak probably because of the coronabitch.

    the problem as always is:
Code must be adapted to Multicore/Thread! and most importantly Optimized!!
thank good we are over the 1/2 core hump, but 16core 32Thread daws
    seem still far away

If AMD drive their innovations of their Mali mobile Gpus
into their fantastic(looking) ryzen4 cores/Apus this could lead into some
surprising change of hardware - computing in day to day life.
in the near future that is.

maybe this crazy inovator makes a comback

Checking this technology from time to time and is seems that industry is not really interested. Pretty old idea though.
