Is there anything out there for Mac resembling eTap?

Years ago, someone in Holland developed an effect called eTap. It's a .dll file. It emulated all the old vintage Tape Machines. Originally, it was for the Hank Marvin / Shadows echo.

Unfortunately, they never released a Mac version. I managed to emulate all the different tap an reverb / echo on my BOSS, but the BOSS died sometime ago, so I used eTap as an effect.

Does anyone know of anything even remotely similar that works on Mac for Logic?

There are a couple of Echorec copy plugins out there.
That's a very nice, retro machine that was used a lot by David Gilmour and, I think, Hank.

Seems to only emulate the Binson, personally, I wouldn't have ever used one of them back in the day. There were far better ones

Of course! Binson made the Echorec. And Hank used it, which is why I mentioned it. (Bought our first house from Hank in Potters Bar!)
You aren't going to find a plugin that gives you all of the tape echoes such as you said your old plugin had.
There are WEM Copycat plugins, Roland Space Echo plugins.
    They're all out there.

    @WillyA
    From Wiki:
"Marvin continued to use Binsons until c.1979/1980, when he began using the Roland RE-201 echo."

So basically I gave you the Best Answer within 3 minutes of you posting, with the exact same equipment that Hank used.
    But you wouldn't use it!?
    Good luck to you, Sir!

Another know-it-all. I wonder if you were actually alive in the late 1950's and '60's? Of course you were. You know EVERYTHING about Hank and the Shadows.

It just so happens that I had an Atlantis Echo unit which had the Echo Unit and the settings used for every recording they made until fairly recently. The main one he used was the Meazzi (which I had back then and the VOX (I also had one of them.)

Sure He used the Binson, but he also used :

    Watkins Copycat
    VOX Domino
    VOX Long Tom
    Meazzi PA 304
    Binson Baby Echo 2
    Binson Export
    Roland 301
    Meazzi Disc-Echoes

So maybe you don't know quite as much as you try to make everyone believe. Hank is 6 months younger than I am and I played in the same years, (but obviously never made the big time because we lived up North and not in London).

eTap emulated all of the above. I should know better than to ask anything on this forum, many of you seem to be rude and big headed, and the same to you Sir!

Have you tried Echo Cat from Waves Factory? That's a Watkins clone, and I quite like the sound of it and it runs well on mac. I also like Modnetic from Surreal Machines, which is a 201 clone. It has a more modern interface but does give you that tape sound. Or at least, as well as some software could. Might be worth checking out! :) I don't know how accurate they are though, because I have no experience with the actual units. So, I don't know how faithful the emulations are, but on their own, I like the sounds they make available to me.

    Good luck on your search!

The eTap and the site is long gone from the Internet. However, it was always freeware. I have it, with the manual and all the settings. If anyone wants it, I would be happy to oblige and perhaps someone would like to post it onto the site?

It really DOES give the sound of all the old Vintage 1960's tape echos

    Hi. Sorry about earlier.
    I'll Inbox you.
Usually we'd upload it to a file share service to get it to one another, which is also best for anonymity.
I know it's so small it could go in an email, but it's still best to follow the protocol I reckon!
Then I would download it from there, and then re-upload it to UL and RG for AZ.

Would a link to Box be OK?

If you REALLY want to use a Windows only plugin, I would recommend using something like Vienna Ensemble Pro or Audiogridder.

Setup a Windows Installation in Parallels Desktop and use all your old plugins this way, maybe you have to bridge old 32 bit ones. I'm using Windows only plugins this way via VEP in Logic Pro X, latency is not ideal for live recording, but ok.

The above mentioned Audiogridder seems to be even more comfortable to use, since it mirrors the GUI of the Win plugin in your DAW, but I didn't try it out for myself yet.

Btw, I don't understand how the best answer can be an experimental VST to AAX wrapper for Windows, as you ask for a solution for Logic on Mac. :dunno:

    Same!
More importantly, it's VST to AAX. For Pro Tools.
And yes, Willy uses Logic Pro. :dunno:
