Demo it. I personally bought it just for the drive, preamp is nice though. Its also a cpu hog, mainly on older systems, on my 8700k i get about 5% of usage.

Yeah the whole snake oil thing regarding acquas is just hilarious. Anytime anyone writes or says that, my bat signal tells me I'm talking to someone who either didn't test them or just someone incompetent.
In fact the only person I've seen claimed on a video that it was snake oil, and backing things with actual test was the snake oil guy on YT. Someone uploaded his video on Viridian on AS. Never heard of the guy, but he was claiming that a plug I enjoy who's pres are excellent that there was actually nothing. Was like "wtf, are my ears that bad ?". So I watch. Get to the fatidic moment. And there I see a dufus, exciting himself like a 12 years old throwing a tantrum, screaming "snake oil" as he claims nothing is happening, my analyser is sure, the pre is on, but it's moot. Well guess what ? The pre was turned off. The dude is so imconpetent, he test a product doesn't know how to use it, doesn't know how to activate a basic feature, but claims things don't work and he can show the actual proof for it.
That's not the most extraordinary. I saw that, and you know me, I commented right away. I wrote : the dead brain didn't even turn the pre, how the fack can he can claim it does nothing ? Well his herd of angry uninformed and bias followers massively downvoted me ! Despite the obvious they just decided to side with their gurus, despite his obvious crap. Talk about an informed assesement. Lol.
Same thing happened with a boggus compare from slate himself between his offering of a neve and gold 1. He puts his eq side by side with the eq unit of gold, and just the eq. Push his own eq and gold eq about as much, same fequencies adjustements etc. Except there aren't any pre in the eq unit of Gold, you have to add them separately if you don't insert the strip. Which is not the case with slate eq unit. When you push it you push the included pre with it. The result isn't just the boost implemented by the eq. Can't believe for a second a guy knowing his crap like Slate did this by accident.

What would you suggest for Pop/Electronic (EBM, Electro-Pop)/Film Score?
I've quickly tested Taupe (I liked it), Gold3, Crimson and Lemon. Will also check Pink.

I'm ashamed to tell, but I'm used to presets. Are Acustica Audio plugins not really preset VST's?

At the moment I think I'll get Taupe (since @Talmi is using it over Satin ;-) and Lemon. Maybe Gold3, which will probably urge me to finally learn more about mixing gear.

Sounds like the age of the internet. I take anything I see on YTube with a grain of salt. Doubly so if the guy is raising his voice (never seen Warren Huart raise his voice). This is why the Slate marketing videos are hard for me to take seriously.

If you look in the manual, you'll see where they talk about AI Learning presets. They are a little different from other VST presets in that they actually adjust themselves based on your audio mimicking the moves that the preset is based on (which producer). These are only available in the EQ's right now. It'd be great if they'd add them to the compressors too, as that's where most beginners struggle and I think it'd really help with learning how to set a compressor.

 

Are you sure? check you're ears an you're brain, maybe you find a snake there ;-)

Yes, one should only buy there when they are struggling with wrongly multiplied sales, so that one can take advantage of it, right?

But when they are not willing to accept that, you would rather make a fuzz about it, while they were so great before, that you put not just one, not just ten, but all oft their plugins in your basket.

 

Havent said that they are not great ... I just advise couscous because they are obviously not following their own rules...

 

Can somebody explain me this? I bought two plugins and both show in Aquarius so I don't know what the heck is going on. Prices are still the same in all plugins in their website.

Yeah as indicated by @digitaldragon they start implementing presets (called AI) in EQs with the latest core update (Cola has it, I'm sure, but just in the eq unit, not the parmetric unit, the other one). Probably Pensado EQ too.
About presets there are also some for other acquas, but beware - and that's something the Acustica users bitch about but so far with no result - some units have presets but you can't access to them with daws preset system. They are only accessible directly in the interface (usually well hidden). You can use your daw preset system to save your own, and probably to resave the ones done by others so that you have them in your daw preset format. It works in Reaper and in samplitude
It's the fxs units that have presets, for Taupe in the full strip (so you have settings edited in the eqs and comp in addition the tape choice and setting), and the individual tape unit, not in the eq nor the comp unit. So Crimson, Ebony, Taupe, Lemon have presets. It's usually near the name of the plug or near the AA logo. Gotta look for Pres or Preset next to a little arrow.
Indeed some compressors presets would be awesome. There is one that has some it's El Rey, for obvious reasons, G.Wells and others put their thing in it. (also well hidden). Sand 2 Strip also has some presets (weirdly not present in Sand3 anymore, but you can recreate them, well if you have sand2).
The ones you pick to try are good picks for the genres you quote. Sand is very good for those genres too, Lime and Navy2 probably are worth checking out. Cola probably. Check the compressor in Cola, and the eq and its presets. Dope cheap as the sale is still on.

When you buy a plugin it then becomes available in aquarius from where you can install it. So yeah. It's normal.

@Exidus had a specific issue, there was a glitch in his order, he got an insane amount of plugs for a 10th of their price, then the order was cancelled by AA. The man himself (Giancarlo) came to explain that 12 customers in total during BF had this issue. Hopefully Exidus can get a reasonable discount for his misadventure, since he's motivated in buying some AA plugs, even without a crazy discount. Hopefully they'll resolve this.
You're in the clear if you didn't get a weird extra discount, no sweat, man.

Damn. good for you, really nice new toys. At this price tag indeed, it's crazy. Crimson and Ebony aren't just fxs, nice compressor in Crimson, and the eqs in ebony alone are worth the purchase of the bundle, love those. Crimson and Lemon will probably grow bigger at their next update, well Ebony too actually should be updated, although I doubt they can expand it much more. Ivory crazy good for mastering duty, cream....well cream. Yummy.
At around 30 € for each it's really cool.

Oh and I broke too. Downloading Pensado EQ right now. At 84 € I just couldn't resist.

 

hmm, i'd consider quinoa with a side of baked vegetable for this one...its difficult isn't it?

 

I got Diamond EQ3 a while ago for dirt cheap, so the Pensado was redundant for me. Also the sale was lower and the customer discount was also lower for it. I know it won't exactly be the same, but close enough I guess.

I'm very intrigued about crimson for death metal vocals, lol.
