I have decided to open a thread in which members can post an original version of a song and subsequent songs in which samples of the original were used or replayed. In those cases in which the sample has been heavily manipulated or replayed, it would be helpful if the poster provides a little explanation as to how it was done. Any other facts are welcomed, too.
I am going to start off by posting Chicago's "Street Player" from their 1979 album Chicago 13 and a house song released in 1995 by the Bucketheads "The Bomb!(These sounds Fall into My Mind....) it is worthy to note that the subtitle to The Bucketheas' song is a mondegreen; the actual lyrics taken from the sample are "Street sounds swirling through my mind..."

This one example is interesting because Drake obtained a rare summary judgment victory claiming Fair Use as a defense to charges of copyright infringement.
The original recording states: "Jazz is the only real music that's gonna last. All that other bullshit is here today and gone tomorrow. But jazz was, is and always will be."
On Drake's song, the edited sampled portion states "Only real music's gonna last. All that other bullshit is here today and gone tomorrow."
The judge reasoned that Drake's use transforms Jimmy Smith's brazen dismissal of all non-jazz music into a statement that 'real music,' with no qualifiers, is 'the only thing that's gonna last.'". The judge went on to state that "This is precisely the type of use that 'adds something new, with a further purpose or different character, altering the first [work] with new expression, meaning or message."

The next one is not an actual sampling of a sound recording but a replay of Laidback's Baker Man done by German DJ and producer Claptone in "No Eyes." This bypasses obtaining approval from and paying royalties to the record label.
