    About this course:

The course will explore the tone combinations that humans consider consonant or dissonant, the scales we use, and the emotions music elicits, all of which provide a rich set of data for exploring music and auditory aesthetics in a biological framework. Analyses of speech and musical databases are consistent with the idea that the chromatic scale (the set of tones used by humans to create music), consonance and dissonance, worldwide preferences for a few dozen scales from the billions that are possible, and the emotions elicited by music in different cultures all stem from the relative similarity of musical tonalities and the characteristics of voiced (tonal) speech. Like the phenomenology of visual perception, these aspects of auditory perception appear to have arisen from the need to contend with sensory stimuli that are inherently unable to specify their physical sources, leading to the evolution of a common strategy to deal with this fundamental challenge.

The only scientific course about music that well worth watching (even your @MMJ2017 doesn't know it). Establishing a good connection between music and our hearing and analyzing systems. :bleh:

Unfortunately it's the name of the course not my titling. I had a better name for it in my mind but I had to respect the originality.

your coward way of using stupid smilies, doesn't change your behaviour shows clear pathological signs

Is it really "scientific" though? As in does it provide empirical evidence for it's claims? I only ask because science/scientific/ect gets thrown around a lot and I often find it's claims rather than actual proven science.

Why does it say "Apply for Financial Aid" if it's free? Or is "access" to pay free?

Also, isn't this Uni one of those Uni's lost to SJW activist commies? You know the type, intersectional politics. Obsessed with race, gender, and oppression. Deal in victim currency. I'm pretty sure they were.

To put it another way, I'm having a hard time, if my memory serves and I'm right about Duke, trusting a "Music as Biology" course coming from a place where basic biology is thrown aside in favor of ideological beliefs. Hence my questions.

I love every member here. My ignore list has been empty forever. My only aim is enjoying and making excellent music by everyone.

@MMJ2017 is my favorite friend and I love him more than he thinks. I just say, music is a self-exploration experimentation and pretenders just misguide people and limit their discoveries.:mates:

your gibberish aside, you have mental issues kid. and they dont have anything to do with any music.

and that wouldn't be a problem, people do have problems of all kinds, but its just what you do one here couldn't be called anything else than pure spam.

and your stupid rampage against that member should by now get you banned, i dont know what keeps you here really

foster911, you do not have the ability to have knowledge of what I know,
Just like I cannot tell if you are a secret jazz loving saxophonist in secret.
maybe you are a theory and jazz lover, but you say what you actually do to play devil's advocate.
I don't have knowledge about you to say.
It would be a mistake for myself to make assumptions about you.

I and lots of other members know more than you can imagine but I never let myself hold other members back from self discovers.

All of your posts are about theory (special kinds) but mine are more diverse and about all aspects of music regarding all sounds. So instead of arrogation and expecting supports by other members in your path, please do some music and let the natural flow of music in this love place happens. Please.......:mates:

Don't really understand the point of these threads. You throw endless bizarre theories at us but obviously learn nothing from them yourself as you have yet to complete a single decent track. What is the point?

You probably haven't participated in any of them or not thought enough about them.
They're not bizarre. For example this one shows some reliable info about our music appreciation system. Please watch it. It's invaluable.
    Because it's so difficult.

I've made lots of them. I've promised to overcome chromatism before embarking on any new one. Anyway, I'll be overjoyed to hear your sound. Please do it... It's a great advancement my friend.

Because I probably have a million better things to do. To paraphrase the old saying
"Those who can, do. Those who can't do nothing but talk to hide the fact."
