right-click the video and show "Stats For Nerds", you'll see how much sound is "lost" in a loudness war..

funny thing is, try download and reupload that first video, it will get magically normalized because you aren't VIP

 

AFAIK YouTube has changed to -14LUFS since september 2019?

You$Tube is not only fucking with your sound but are also deplatforming or cutting off the visability and flow of many journelists and bloggers, and instead by way of algorithm pushing to the fore corporate media while not holding them accountable for false and misleading reporting. Its a double standard that is beneficial only to big money interests.

Codecs & connection speed are not the same.
they sold codec and bandwith with a commercial account.

 

Integrated loudness. The first track has 1min20sec before the "loudness" comes in. Take that into account. Similar to other tracks that have weak/soft intros.

 

I don't think YouTube takes integrated loudness value into account solely, would be too easy to cheat and I doubt YouTube would keep being fooled

AFAIK Youtube measure integrated loudness (integrated LUFS). If you have a long passage of low loudness, your integrated value is lower. Thus less normalization is applied.
Edit: I think I understood the issue correctly. But show me stats or links if I'm wrong.
Edit 2: Maybe Youtube is measuring the first x number of seconds/minutes and bases the loudness off of that. That would explain things.

It has become worse - They are now deducting American IRS Tax on every video that is monetizing regarding royalties in their new TOS.
What this means for anyone on youtube who is not in the USA is they will effectively pay double tax. They will pay US tax and if their government decides that their income into their country's bank is taxable which a majority always have, you will pay tax again.
That's pretty shitty.

 

Regarding Youtube, It is impossible to fully understand the continuous changes of direction on the codec specifications, the reasons for the different bitrates, the LUFS, the (apparently) random use of m4a, ogg, VP9 etc. All the information available that we can have comes from nerds who test files and publish reviews, but on the youtube site there is no news about it.
I don't understand this behavior: Why is there no detailed information of their audio/video procedures on the official site?
Why this lack of transparency?
