Originally a sugar tit was some sugar or honey put onto a cloth, wrapped into a ball with the sweet stuff inside and secured with some twine that was given to babies as a pacifier. Nowadays the slang conferes someone telling a woman that she has "sweet" tits or as a putdown with the connotation of misogynistic superiority by intoning flakiness.

General George S. Patton is quoted as saying..."Lead me, follow me, or just get out of my way, Sugartits".(not really, I just added the sugar tits at the end for emphasis:bleh:)

Same pretty much! The pre's are something else. Some of the stereo console pre's or "custom" ones in some of the suites can sometimes make a night and day difference in a mix. Honestly same with some of their compressors, but just a touch. 1db or something like that of "glue" or tone or whatever, can often times impart some magic to a mix. I also am obsessed with their newer offerings. Pumpkin, Ash, Cherry, Salt, all are capable of being pushed hard, and i make mainly loud and aggressive / too hot in the mix electronic music.

For mastering.. some of those eqs are CRAZY good. Indigo is nuts. Erin is great. Magenta is transparent but can be pushed. Ocean is a secret weapon for EDM adjacent and hip hop genres. Even older suites, like green, often still get used in my mixes.

for whatever tf reason clearly my question has triggered some people up in here. why youre getting your panties in a bunch about a simple question is beyond me. reread the thread title, its literally about asking for and giving opinions on these plugins. stay on topic, participate or go away and save your nonsensical ramblings for that "mega" thread, as if its the official authority on aa plugins or something lol

fyi relax honey, I used the word sugartits as a term of endearment sheesh

I'm more like in a Urban Pop/World Music/Hip Hop style of production and probably my picks are very different than yours. Brown is my favorite one for low drums, the level of detail and transient is beyond ridiculous. Gold 8086 Bus is on my master rythmic section. It makes everything bigger than the world with a top end that makes me cry. On melodies i probably go Sand if i want a more modern glossy sound with the custom 9K amp (copying the Jaycen Joshua trick of using the 9K as static summing amp for melodies back in the analog days) or Blonde MIXPRE, always with the Binson EQ and the custom 5 and 6. It gives a 70's progressive rock vibe that is very Pink Floydish and Premiata Forneria Marconi to my ears. And a very sough after tone for me, as i grew up listening to progressive rock.

At the bass aux or i go with Aquamarine EQ, Ultramarine EQ27 or Ruby. Ruby is FUNKY. If you want that Bootsy Collins tone, go for it and thank me later. The first ones are more for 808's/synthbass/overtones etc.

The preamp i use as the first insert of my master bus will remain a secret because it's unbelievable that this thing exists. It's not Black anymore. Search for yourself as i did:rofl:

After two weeks of extensive tests, I think in the end it just doesn't make sense if you're a professional to use these products in general. Can you imagine mixing UAD, Brainworx, Sonnox, Softube and all the other plugins together with these AAs that can crash at any time. In my opinion we never see AA products among the pros because they are too dangerous to use in a complex workflow with large projects, although some of these sound good, and the company does not perform optimization and quality control on its products. So we thank R2R but I skip. I've never purchased an AA before, and have no plans to include them in the future after that. Too dangerous to have them work together with my UAD and Sonnox, which are the center of my equipment.

Don't think I'm a fan of AA or a fan of "analogue sound". I'm also not trying to defend Acustica, Cashcarlo and R2Retolessi.
Personally, I find your statement about "we never see AA products among the pros" little strange. You can see a tone of Waves plugins using by pros, grammy winning engineers and etc. That doesn't make their products high quality, it's just that these people are used to / know how to use the TOOL. I agree that plugins needs stability and in this case this is not 100% proper working AA stuff.

But if we're talking about "pros", It's not fair to ignore R2Retolessi because he also fits all the parameters of a "pro".

I myself have found a couple of plugins that work for me personally and I will continue test them.

Just to clarify once again. When we start talking about "Pros", let's consider everyone, no matter what we think about them.

I spent some time trying all the releases from R2R and I have to say that I've found AA plugins plagued by bugs, bad UI and generally speaking far from analog modelling that they claim.
Add that Junkarlo is an egotistic human being full of hybris.
    No thanks.
These days we have lot of alternatives, even freebie, that sound and perform way better t hen AA.
I don't want to seem an heater but I never imagined that they were so trashy considering the high price tag asked.

    100% confirm.
I could not have it written better.
I am on the same side with UAD, etc. which are TOOLS that you can trust and work 100% - which is what we need.

Yes, and I have enormous respect for Pretolesi. He is one of the leaders of the audio industry, and one of the most competent in the audio field. But he is too involved with AA commercially. Half of the AA catalog is developed in collaboration with his Studio DMI.

Where did that notion come from?
These are some pros that I have seen using AA plugins:

Dexter Simmons, Dale Becker, Jaycen Joshua, Dave Pensado, Jean-Marie Horvat, Greg Wells, Josh Gudwin, Rik Simpson, Alex Tumay, Bainz, Teezio, Mike Dean.

And I'm sure that there are many more.

yes!! they are all great in their own way. Blonde Mixpre is one of my favorites. It holds up for aggressive dance music even. Gold bus i use here and there. Sand too. The ultramarine eq's are the eq's i never knew i needed until i used them. beefy as hell.

and yes, as others have commented, tell us! no secrets here. :beg:

Most of the artists you mentioned have collaborated with AA. All are directly involved commercially with AA. Specifically, most of them state that they used El Rey during the vocal production stage, especially on female voices. Which is anything but confirmed. But the question you need to ask yourself is: are you in the middle of a big session, full of audio processors and would you use a dozen AA plugins along with all the others, in their current stage of optimization? Would you risk the mix?

They have some very decent sounding plugins, that are unfortunately ruined by terrible optimization, and an insane copy protection method that is 90% of the size of their bloated plugin installs.
I have bought some of their stuff, but never really use it because of how poorly it performs. They need to change their ways.

i use them every day, side by side with UAD and the rest of the gang. Zero issues besides maybe a 1 second lag if changing a setting on some of the older suites. I can run all my non acustica stuff + anywhere from 30-50 acusticas no problem. zero crashes. some ik multimedia and izotope stuff i use crashes more than any acustica i have. I run large projects upwards of 150 tracks often. Complex workflows, bussing, oversampling, mastering in the same session. zero crashes. I dont consider myself a "pro", but i do make a living exclusively from music, so i guess that means im a professional lol. Acustica has its issues, but i have very little problems with the plugins.
