After trying the Metric Halo Multiband Compressor I had a euphonic orgasm and my ITB channel strip will never be the same again. For OTB I go mic>Warm Audio WA76>Satson>T-Racks 2A White. For synths it is now direct into the Metric Halo gift from heaven.

 

I use a bit of this and a bit of that more often than not.

But if it's more standard channel strip uses, I use the SS strip, sounds great, classic modules and a few funky ones, imo, you could mix any type of music with this, very well.

 

Waves SSL, Duende, Metric Halo. Waves has better eq and MH has better compressor IMO.

 

Waves SSL E for general purpose workhorse.
Slate Digital VMR for all the magic. It's great!

Look out for the new MeldaProductions channel strip. I am working on a preset for it that is the most versatile strip you would ever need. But its not for the faint hearted. Over 100 controls on the one page. Eq, Compression, Limiting, Gating, Sync Ducking, Sidechain Frequency Ducking, Chorus, Reverb, Delays, Saturation, Clipping.+++
Beginners keep away. Pros only. There is a mini strip for the uneducated. It sounds amazing..

You guys can't be serious, the "go-to" channel strip is the one you put on a cowbell track without hesitation. Its a small swiss army knife not a tool box. SSL.. softube.. Duende... VMR..

Reminds me of the time I volunteered to teach a kid mixing, I told him to pull up an eq to cut resonances on a vocal and he opened an API 560... he couldn't have been picked a more useless tool for the task. I told him to use the stock eq.

Big tool, big job. Small tool, small job.

 

Melda plugins suck. Use Slate or SSL instead.

 

Couldn't agree more. I also think they're completely unremarkable. Generic stuff.

 

Sounds like the blind leading the deaf.

 

Acustica Audio Pink....... everything else is just good, while Pink changed pro audio when it dared to be great.

Seriously, the bar was raised.... yes, actually RAISED. Do not attack me until you have demoed it yourself, your audio will thank you later.
