Write in your goto channel strips.
Mine are: 1. Wave ssl channel
    2. I just noticed the "T-Racks White channel" is a beast.

Keep the thread going with your favorite channel strip

I might be an oddball but I like to use individual plugs for everything

    If I'm in Ableton it's native EQ8/Compressor or Glue/Autofilter

    If I'm in S1 it's Fab ProQ2/Pro-C or MJUC/FilterFreak

    :dunno:

@mickey It really depends what is the source.. I really like the DnR - sounds good, GUI is pretty and the options are plentiful.. Trackplug5 sounds really good too...
the SSL - sound-wise prob the best of these (again, it depends on the sound material and your goal)

All depends upon what is being worked on. I approach in-the-box like having studios spread out
across the city to choose from.

I like most of those mentioned so far with my current fav's being Summit Audio Grand Channel and,
Tube-Tech Classic Channel. Still testing the Lurssen Mastering Console.

UAD Neve 88RS for recording (printed to track, wet recording).
Waves SSL E for mixing drum overheads.
Then I barely use channel strips. I prefer to build my track one processor per insert slot.

Softubes Console 1 SSL 4000E Emulation is my current favorite - it requires the hardware controller that comes with it but I feel it has taken my mixing to the next level.

SerumFX is quite nice especially in Cubase
    [IMG]
which hasn't got macro/lfo/note triggerable etc. fx rack by defualt so worth put it into BC PatchWork and save as default patch, makes the life much more easier in Cubase

Yeah I agree with what is written in that it depends on needs really I guess.

Hardware got to be LA-610 MkII Classic Tube or 6171, Manley core if you lucky enough and have loads of cash etc tubes add warmth, analog type smoothity (lol) but some good cheaper alternatives from Drawmer, Joe Meek, Art Pro.
Some good powered UAD software emulations like Neve 88RS Channel, SSL E, UAD 4K are great.
Then ranging down to all the usual suspects like Waves ssl, Dunende Native SSL, Softube Stuff in general, Alloy 2, Eventide & the rest.

Even some of the fairly cheap ones like DDMF can get some pretty good results.

All depends on what sort of sound you are after and how much cash u have I guess.
Best idea is to try whatever you can whenever available, see what suits your needs and invest wisely as is a huge choice that can also be very expensive.

For me personally Joe Meek Twin Q excellent value for money and very adaptable but all depends on what you need.

    Good Luck.

    My recording chain is:
Golden Age Project PRE-73 MKII -->
    Golden Age Project EQ-73 -->
    Warm Audio WA76

    My ITB channelstrip is usually:
    Sonimus Satson (for gainstaging)
    Sonimus Burnley 73 (nice colorbox)
    FabFilter Pro-Q or Reapers ReaEQ
    Klanghelm MJUC
Recently added Ignite Amps Pultec PTEq-X
    (really nice Pulteq emu)

For added color I might throw in Shattered Glass Code Red,
depending on the vibe I'm looking for.
Last in line is U-he's Satin.

As you can tell, I like color :)
Mostly I record southern rock, bluesrock. Love that late 60's early 70's sound!

in Cubase u can't create inner track(like ableton racks) parallel fx chains, so should use some VST chainer, can be MUX, PatchWork etc. PatchWork can reopen all of the previously opened VSTs into their original screen positions(secondary monitor) so don't have to reopen the plugins one by one, if u use only some serial fx chain on the given track then it isn't required ofc. so it just a comfortable wrapper for parallel things

ps. there is same issue with instruments layering, but with instruments worth to use MUX, it can be setup much faster than PatchWork (if u create a macro only patch before)

so as I see currently MUX is faster if u need to create common automatable macro controlls for multiple-instruments(it's working same as the Multi-Instrument wrapper in S1 if u create an empty only knob controls patch as default one), but for simple parallel routing (typicalle for fx chains) PatchWork is the better

Neat - thanks for filling me in. I never think about how people who don't use Live or SO3 have to work their way around these things

Have you noticed that fast attack on Waves SSL or any channel strip emulation almost never sounds good or am i doing something wrong?
