    Hi,

I'm really confused what to get,
    which have flatter sound ?
which have good low end ?

Purpose of use: mastering, mixing and EDM production.

I work on Yamaha HS8 now. They sound even better in the highs than the previous HS80m model. Translation-wise they are known to be "trustworthy" so they're a good bet.
Check a reference comparison with a few other models here (around 1:57):

I haven't listened to the Presonus speakers you mention, but i do own the Yamaha ones and i'm all happy with it. Working with EDM too.

HS-8 without doubt, but be careful! You will need at least 1-1.5m space from wall, because of back bass ports on yamaha...

I keep mine like 0.7m away from the wall with the room control set on -2db. The back controls helps for that.

I had the HS8 and it has huge bass, so I always needed to cut a lot bass to retain the more flat mix.

The bass is relative, depending on the room size. The smaller it is, the huge the bass becomes. That effect is fake-able by placing the monitors closer to the wall.

I've just bought the Eris E-8, they seems really flat imho (especially compared with the old Fostex that I used before), but I don't use them for enough time to be sure of that, I can give you a more precise opinion in a week or so...
Note that I've never used the yamaha so I wont be able to compare. ;)

I had HS80m's and bought some JBL's to test them out as some one on gearslutz claimed they were on par with Neumanns... Sold my HS80's and couldn't be happier... JBL's are so SO clear

I use Genelecs but was very impressed with a friends HS8's and would have no problem grabbing a pair, if I were on a budget.

I´ve got a set of Eris for my second monitor setup, and if you compair price/quality you´ve got a lot of value for the money!
Never tested the Yamahas, but they usually makes good monitors.

I've been using M-Audio BX8a's for several years and have been thinking of switching to the Yamaha HS8's. Does anybody out there have any experience with these two Monitors and if so, what would your recommendation be?

    Thanks.

Also I heard very nice words about Mackie MR models which have very good cost/quality value.

  18. Besides REALLY not enjoying David Bryce's holier than thou sales pitch, his exclaiming not to have heard any monitor with such amazing 3D definition disturbs me to no end. He must solely must be extremely limited in his comparisons to other monitors as there are truly amazing offerings out there that must perform at at least this level or higher. What has he not listened to? I never have had the opportunity to compare these Sceptres, but doubt that they are the end all as he proffers. They might be really great but his sales pitch smacks me of snake oil salesman and too puts me off as a potential purchase some time the future. No offense, kimikaze.

Don't you really have the money to upgrade to something more pro, like Genelec or Focal CMS65 ?
You should spare a little and make that investment.

Yeah you need just overcome his annoying marketing and self and company glorification, but, he is not making speaker, so he can be whatewer he want and tell whatever he want, you just need to threat him as one who like it, he need to like it as presenter :) In the end always come to point, when people tell if(professionals) like it or not and till now, this speakers have mostly excelent review's.
