i7-4770k with integrated HD Graphics 4600 and 16gb ram is amazing spec despite its age,
I still have few of those (32gb ram) running all sorts of systems - MacOS High Sierra ~ Big Sur, Proxmox, TrueNAS, Windows 7, Windows 10....

sure you can go for Windows 11, but be aware without TPMv2 it's not officially supported and updates may break it completely,
unless you want Windows 11 for some specific reason, software, feature... (and frankly there is one I can easily think of - new StartAllBack, on sister site), there's no reason to mess up your existing system yet

whats the point in updating to W11? (M$ packed more privacy and shittery into W11, which you have to deal with) and W11 is still under drastically changes, while W10 is not. Changes which bring no advantage so far over W10.

im planning to give my new notebook also W10, where i already saved an ISO for now, which im going to install if comes with W11. (hope there are still notebooks without any OS, not paying 100€ for a shitty windows edition.)

+100!! This OS is Da Bomb!! I use it on several machines. It was originally intended
as a gamer OS but works great for audio and other multimedia. Everything you need
    and 100% fat free!!

nice article, I'd read up-to-date version,
    for the points:
    1) TPM can be bypassed/ignored
    2) StartAllBack
    3) StartAllBack
    4) StartAllBack
    5) tablets are useless: https://audiosex.pro/threads/is-ipad-worth-it-or-useless.67444/
    6) as of today, it's still possible to avoid MS online account
    7) equally useless
    8) I wouldn't
    9) StartAllBack
    10) October 14th, 2025 to be exact

NO! It is not worth. Unless your setup makes you happy any more. I upgraded to a new laptop with W11 a week ago and
Tuning the new system to my old habits in W10 and tons of installations of plugins, HEADACHE and wast of time.
I wanted to use Live 11 on a quicker CPU but the come with W11. Plus problems with compatibility can occur like my favourite FL Studio ASIO driver doesn’t work for the beginning.

ohh this is bad FL ASiO not working (asio4all just doesnt work for me). been using it for the realtek audio onboard card if my SSL2+ is not plugged in.

W11 breaks a lot of habits, which i came to love with W10. (the transition from W7 to W8.1 was hard for me, missed the task menu, started pinning shit to TC and taskbar and now i heard this isnt working for W11 or did M$ fix this?)

To lockk all shit down on W11 you need atleast a pro version, where you can use group policy editor.

I see myself not using W11 if it comes with new notebook.

I have WIn 11 installed on my Notebook (3rd Gen Ivy Bridge Intel Core) and bypassing the TPM 2 requirement was super easy with Rufus. But I don't use this thing for music at all. The thing is: the newer the OS, the more features are implemented and the more resources are required. As far as compatibility is concerned, Windows is pretty good in terms of backaward compatible when it comes getting old software to work. It's a lot less restrictive in that regard than macOS for example.

i added the Group Policy and the Context Menu (right click) in a file explorer, sandbox and Hyper-V. I even moved the anchored-at-the-bottom taskbar!!! What a challenge!!! All those those things need diving into the registry!!!
    Wasting time.

If we were confined to old times analogue gear, would we worry about updating the system? We would squeeze the gear up to 110% of its possibilities and make the best music then.
I wouldn’t have changed my old laptop if the newer versions of DAW had worked properly.

    Don’t worry about the system.

    F*** the system!

Better to lose with a wise man than to Win with a fool”

my oldest PC wants me to upgrade to WINDOWS ME, do you think I should ?
If Microshit inbreeds and all other privacy invading devices had their way your PC would be permanently monitored and connected to them 24/7/365 even when turned off, even your automated BlueTooth enabled Bidet may be monitored :hahaha:, absolutely no privacy.
(This may be of use to all brain-dead morons who only see everything as conspiracy theory in everything, everywhere and know absolutely nothing beyond wiping their ass after shitting and then licking the shit stains off their fingers)
A true fact I still use Paintshop Pro 7 that I bought when Win 98 came out, it is only 58mb and still works even on Win 10, the newest PaintShop Pro 2023 Ultimate 25 is 1.2Gb, again why should I upgrade and pay for an over-bloated POS when my old version works 100% and does absolutely everything I need.

A look into the future, we write the year 2050 and Windows launches version 17 F.UC.K on the market.

This time with direct connection to your implanted chip, they can order with it purely mentally at Amazon,
in addition, this version has a new intelligence interface, so your private life is stored directly, of course,
only for your protection, because if they forget times, the big all-seeing brother knows everything.
