    That figure 18 (Default song versus own song magnitude response preference) was my biggest doubt on your methodology as I consider that the default track isn't a good reference. So it's great to see that it doesn't make a huge difference in the end.

    I always considered diffuse-field based targets as the better ones, so this is great to see. I guess that the only thing that could be improved would be the diffuse-field HRTF itself. That 2002 paper is quite old, and that hard knee at 8kHz on the curve might be a measurement artifact. It might be interesting to create a newer diffuse-field HRTF based on current HRTF databases.
