Wire Grind has announced the release of Advanced Noise Gate, a gate effect plug-in for Windows.

Advanced Noise Gate applies equalization to both the input signal and the output signal. For the input signal, equalization is applied prior to level detection. For the output signal, there are two equalization states: one state is applied when the gate is open, and the other state is applied when the gate is closed. This allows the gate to toggle between the two equalization states, and it provides the equivalent of multi-band range control.

Advanced Noise Gate also includes several features that use time, logic, and probability to control the gate. These features include attack delay, early gate release, time-based muting, and probabilistic muting.

    Advanced Noise Gate features

    Frequency conscious input detection.
    Dual-state output equalization.
    Attack delay.
    Early gate release.
    Time-based muting.
    Probabilistic muting.
    Two attack envelopes.
    Independent and linked channel processing.
Level detection using both peak and RMS.
    Side chaining.
    Ducking.
The plug-in is available for Windows (VST), priced at $149 USD.

    Demo Version:
A free demo version is available. This version is unable to save paramter settings. It also intentionally degrades the sound quality after a certain amount of time, although the sound quality will resume when the plug-in is reloaded.

    More Info

I find it ultra expensive. 150 bucks for a gate plugin is a nonsense in my humble opinion.

"Probabilistic muting" can be a kind of adaptive attack/release :dunno:
Some Voxengo plugs do it for limiting/compressing.
I found hysteresis settings working nicely in some drum triggering plugs, too.
Because sometimes, "threshold" is not enough.

On the other side, it is expensive. And when i get a very hard gating work, i do it by hand with automation

Absolutely true. Gui looks like a Free Plugin or Some Synthedit Crap.

This one is much better and is a FREE plugin

It's called Prefix and you can get it here

I won't even bother to download and install the Wire Grind one.

Thank you for your comments, we appreciate the feedback.

Advanced Noise Gate is a full featured gating effect, and it includes many features not found in other products.

    Probabilistic Muting
The "probabilistic muting" feature borderlines on computer improvisation, as it is capable of automatically generating musical variations in real-time. The control for this is labeled "Beat Skip" in the GUI. As an example, say "Beat Skip" is set to 20%. When Advanced Noise Gate detects a note, it decides whether or not the note will be muted. While Advanced Noise Gate makes this decision randomly, the probability of any specific note being muted is 20%.

Hey Wire Grind welcome to the forums. I have to agree with the guys $150 seems steep for a gate plug-in, please consider dropping the price. You will make more sales that way. *yes*

The plugin is priced relative to other similar plug-ins. Also the cost of producing such plug-ins is relatively high. That being said, there could be price cuts at some point in the future.
