Just stay on Windows 10 for audio, you will have much better experience with software and hardware, developers that venture into Linux mostly don't live on the edge of OS support, so you are good to go next decade without updating your OS. Bitwig and U-He for example still support Windows 7, they will probably support Windows 10 even longer, doubt many of others will drop Win10 support anytime soon in favor of 12/13 or whatever. If they do, ditch them, they aren't worth sticking with on long run, go with vendors that don't have strict OS compatibility demands and proved over time in doing so.

For daily OS something like Linux Mint is actually great, so get another drive and problem solved, you can even leave your DAW Windows 10 offline and run it for years that come without any problems and worrying about end of life support or whatever.

Doubt in 10 years you will have better experience using latest Linux over Windows 10 for audio, same vendors that will support Linux, will still support Windows 10, give you the latest updates and all that, so it's kinda of non issue really.

yes. matter of fact. i just bought a dell xps 9710 17 inch with windows 11 on it. i think pro. not sure, i'm new to pc, coming from mac os platform. i've grabbed some releases from the sister site to install, and when i click on the installer, i get this : (see image) it gives me no option to install, just the tiny x and minimize at the top right corner. anybody know what this is and a way around it? thanks. image000000.jpg image000000.jpg

Try changing the resolution to a lower one ( https://www.lifewire.com/adjust-screen-resolution-in-windows-11-5194035 )

    Or

Try to run the installer in Win 10 compatibility ( https://www.lifewire.com/run-older-programs-with-windows-10-compatibility-mode-4587064 )
