It's not Win11's fault per se, it's the rest of the windows "junk" that makes it seem that way.

Advice: remove internet from that machine and turn OFF a/v, firewall, cortana, microsoft store, bitlocker, indexing, win update, etc, etc, and your life will suddenly become much less chaotic when dealing with that machine.

Plugins in use Kirchhoff EQ and Acustica Tan 2 (for easy run on Linux)

WIN 11
- 12 EQ's or TAN2ZL 26 comps

WIN 10
- 13 EQ's or TAN2ZL 22 comps

Linux Mint (ALSA driver)
- 12 EQ's or TAN2ZL only 6 comps (Probably Acustica audio problems)

Results i fair only for system with extra tweaks! For both 11 & 10. Not vanilla version.

Linux audio still a mess, unfortunately. This is last reason why i still Microsoft user.
They claim they fix infamous timers issue in W11.
But with my extra deep system tweaks to the lowest possible input lag and real-time performance optimization,
W10 show's better DCP Latency (87 μs) than on W11 (457 μs)

No drag and drop in W11 is a workflow killer.
Me personally, will skip W11 for sure.

 

Did I understand correctly that if I remove something with the ShutDown Program or Build a Lite Version of an Windows Build and then do a Windows update, it will be reinstalled?

 

Windows anything is a dick when it updates and overrides all your own settings and audio devices. If its a new CPU then go for win 11 - the scheduler is developing to use new architecture better so you will get better performance - theoretically. (The process scheduler not the calendar type one). No issues found on my side except when 'trialling' softwares. Full kontakt and steinberg compliance.

Apparently the Windows 11 version of LTSC comes out next year so maybe i'll wait for that

I hope 12 isn't going to be filled with "AI". It's like the weaponized version of Clippy. Clippy everywhere, watching everything you do. What they've described is spyware. It watches everything you do to profile you so that it can "help" you. It's targeted advertising basically, that reads your thoughts. It's even worse than Cortana was. I assume you'll be able to turn most of it off, but they will also in typical Microsoft fashion make some things forced always on and phoning home. It always takes a mass uprising to stop Microsoft from doing these things, such as when they tried to force TPM on everyone. They're just trying to "help" us you know!

Not the whole Windows will reinstall, but there are things which will come back after an Update which were removed before. It also depends on which Update. Security Patches should be fine but if there is an Windows 11 Version Update this will behave like i wrote before.

 

They do this because their Cashcows are Big Companys which use a lot of Windows & Office Licenses. They don't care about the normal user their whole Marketing etc. is focussing on the Company Environment and than is brought to the normal user some time Later.

 

I believe they will integrate their bing ai and so on into Win 12. But there will always be a way to turn Stuff like this off. And i always recommend not to use all this AI Stuff, because when its free you will pay with your Data beeing collected, sold and so on.

 

If Ableton Live was working on Linux without Problems i would switch directly. So i must stay on Win10. Or maybe i should switch to Bitwig?

MS is giving back combine taskbar buttons in a future release (available in Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23466 atm).
So I wasn't wrong about it not being available until this release is released as stable/public.

Also. You have to click "Show more options" before you get shown all the options for all files. Some files might show different menues which is also fckng crappy from a standardization pov.

Also. For Copy/Paste etc they added graphical symbols in horizontal line instead of text in vertical line. Which also takes away faster work flow.

 

Linux is garbage for music production. So it should be much more than Ableton for making that switch

Hardware support, drivers support, software support, plugin support. And general stability for the OS. Linux is not ready for music production, and would probably never be. Linux should not even be mentioned as a alternative when it comes to video editing, music production and gaming. It's been garbage for 30 years and it still is.
