Not taking sides here (I use both Windows and Mac), but here's a clip with Microsoft at the 2024 NAMM Show talking about all the MIDI 2.0 being implemented in Windows (probably only Win 11). He mentions, ahem, that Mac already has all this. But he also says all of their MIDI code is open source, so maybe the Linux folks can implement it too.

7 mins sounds like something's wrong with BIOS or Windows imo :woot:

for reference, I got 22 seconds boot into Windows 11, and I'm using 9 years old i7-5820K and "only" SATA SSD - Samsung 860 Pro 1TB

speaking of Windows 11, it would deserve bit more polishing, but overall it's not that bad nowadays,
and with Ventoy it was easy clean install even on my "unsupported" hardware spec, no issues
    :chilling:

Definetly something wrong with the system or you DRAMATIZING.
My Win 10 boot in like 18 seconds.

As your statement that Win 11 is the best for music production.
    My statement is that
Windows 10 is the best for modern x64 software and vst3 plugins (less bloatware and spying trash than Win 11. Also RAW Win 10 system take less RAM than RAW Win 11 system)
    And
Windows 7 is the best for older x86 software and vst2 plugins. (Modern software and plugins will not work on Win 7. That's why it loose with Win 10)

what the hell are you guys talking about with these MINUTES TO BOOT??? :knock:your pcs have issues if that is the case. my laptop with dual partition win xp/7 both boot in under 5 seconds. desktop with win 10/11 both boot in under 10 seconds.

imo win7 is/was the absolute best platform to produce music on, with xp not far behind. I still use it but only for legacy and hardware stuff thanks to most developers not supporting it anymore.

then comes win 10, which is just ok after you clean the shit out of it, setup and get used to all the niggles.

win 11 has been nothing short of a major pain in the ass and I for one would never rely on it for anything other than net surfing. and even that and the most basic menial tasks have major issues now and again with their stupid updates and all the defender virus firewall crap. its a constant struggle with 11. HATE IT.

Win 11 here. Loads up fast but most importantly I'm able to make music without any problems whatsoever.
