Having successfully installed Mattermost throughout the Windows 10 network I am responsible for I find I cannot identify the installation on any of the machines using the usual methods, registry uninstall keys, or get-wmiobject -class win32_object. A search of the entire registry returns nothing, but Mattermost appears as expected in the uninstall list of programs and functions perfectly well.

What other methods might be used to identify installed apps?

    a bit offtobic but related:
i recall that years ago there was an application which monitors the installation inclusive all changes. I wonder if there is an alternative for this today. That way we coudl simply undo any installation

    Hm, maybe it's hidden.

Try Hide From Uninstall List 1.0 from Sordum Tools.
It lists ever installed package and shows if it's hidden or not. Additionally you can hide or show other installers
to hide, what you've installed on the systems you administrate.

I used this to hide all the redist package entries and other things I don't want to get uninstalled accidentally.

If you want to uninstall also hidden stuff, take a look at Bulk Crap Uninstaller.
It's completely free and has more features than most common uninstall programs you've to pay for.

There are two, the most powerful install/uninstall tools I've tried:
    1. Revo Uninstaller
    2. Total Uninstall (this one is insanely powerful)
But the OP asks for identifying installed apps, not sure about that.

For me your comment is totally relevant. I've never faced the OP's problem but I'd start searching in the best uninstallers features to solve it.

At least the Pro version does it. I use it sometimes. It doesn't monitor by default, it's resource consuming.
