    Hi,
I am using a hackintosh for long time now but I wnted to try out how Studio One perfroms on Windows 10.
So I installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 pro (legit from MS).

I optimized it for audio Balckviper, backgroundsrevice, BIOS tweaks , eist off etc...

    First Impression (besides Windows look&feel):

    Faster boot times.
    • Studio One GUI is faster and more responsive, undermacOS it feels like a mouse trail (rubbeband) when moving windows , or changing the height of the mixer etc.
    • The performance seams to be better as well atleast the CPU meter shows less load.

    ~BUT~

I get clicks, tiny freaking random clicks. DPC is all green.

On macOS i never got those clicks,on teh same hardware

    idea?

I just commented this on another thread and I'm not sure, but there may be some problems S1 under Windows 10 1804 (RS4) or later.

This might sound weird, but disable any on board network card and see if the problem presist.

In my Windows 10 v1709 (RS3) updated S1 works like a charm, without clicks and other latency related issues. And quite faster than v3.

I haven't tested it thoroughly, but I bet several fellow users have.

And then, like @MrLyannMusic pointed out, it may be a driver issue, background treacherous processes,...

PS. FWIW, my Windows is an original MS ISO (last updated 9 april), Pro version, activated through the cleanest non-legit method

Had the same problems. Changed the "Dropout Protection" In the "Audio Setup/Processing" options to Low or Minimum. All the clicks were gone!

I work on both Mac and PC, I have no problems, High Sierra and Windows 10 Home 1809, Presonus Studio One 4 Pro all legit. My audio interface are the Presonus Studio 26 USB with 9ms of latency.

With heavy load of VST's I have better performance on PC with Intel Core i7 2700K and 32Gb of RAM, about a 50% in CPU level indicator, while in the iMac 27'' late 2013, Intel Core i5 and 16Gb of Ram, with the same project, have 85% of CPU load, both very stable without any artifact.

Before ill used a Focusrite interface with a lot of problems, clics and pops until changue to the Studio 26 USB.

May be, Studio One are optimized to work with they own interfaces to get better and maximum performance.

On Windows 10 with Studio One 4 and it works well. Definitely try what rotong suggests. Also, make sure your bitrates match in STudio one with your soundcards'. I use Windows Audio and rarely ASIO and with hardly any latency/issues so I'd try that driver if you haven't also. For me at least, ASIO4All gives me problems all the time. FWIW, my setup is pretty simple.

Interesting is tho that macOS seams to be less prone for clicks even low buffersizes

Even at this extreme setting I doint get any dropouts on macOS:

I wanted to make sure to be not reliable on macOS / Hackintosh, that's why I decided to create a 'plan B' system, and thats why I mainly chose Studio One,
besides the better responisve GUI and the huge amount of tryout software I don't see any argument to use Windows at all :dunno:

latencymon shows now that anything is fine. But whatever I do i get tiny random clicks, they sound like if it is just one sample.
no matter which buffersize or dropout protection I set. This really suxx

what audio interface do you use?
    CoreAudio (MacOS) > ASIO > ASIO4ALL > WDM

  16. Blackviper does not support Windows 10.

    http://www.blackviper.com/windows-services/windows-audio/

    BIOS tweaks

Try doing a completely normal, vanilla un-improved install, and then tweaking it once you have made it work properly.

Well, that's the conclusion you were certain to reach, given the above.

Now, you've told us everything except which audio device that you're using.

No problem at all here, win 10 LTSB/64, even if on an old I7 cpu
Also here "Dropout Protection" In the "Audio Setup/Processing" options to Low or Minimum

need full list of hardware you are using, included audio interface.
If you get pops and clicks on high buffer size like over 512 something is clearly wrong.
My first thought was the asio drivers for your audio interface.....

First thing you can try is to pull out the audio interface of you pc uninstall the driver and install Asio4all. Enable the Asio4All driver in Studio One (without audio interface connected) and test if the same dropouts happens. If the dropouts are gone you have already pretty much nailed it down to the audio interface driver.

And one more thing when you say optimized for audio did you do the most important thing, change the power settings to either Ultimate Performance or High Performance?

RME Multiface II and its native ASIO drivers, I doubt that it is based on teh quality of the drivers.
And of course under macOS its core audio drivers.

    RME Multiface II
Asus z87 i7-4770k (synced cores speed, tubomode, c-states, eist, disabled)
    32 GB RAM
    Radeon RX 580 8GB

the dropouts are not very heavey , just very subtile clicks.
Sometimes for 10 minuts no glitch and then suddenly a tiny click.

Maybe those clicks are rtelated to a 3rd party plugin. I do some further tests bny removing plungins after each other.

Anyways something like this really suxx.

yep, i set it to Ultimate Performance
