Hello all, I've just emerged from under a mountain of work and, in the spirit of maintaining a healthy work-life-timewasting balance, I thought I'd start a thread for the noble purpose of wasting everyone's time. We might even learn something along the way (though I wouldn't bet on it). The topic is the ever-present "Mac Plz" phenomenon we see on nearly every Windows-specific plugin release. It feels like it's becoming more common by the day. If my math is correct (and it rarely is), our man Omiac must spend half his day moderating those comments. We see it from newbies and 15-year veterans Residents alike. I'll be honest, I don't understand it, and I'm not sure I want to. On the flip side, I can't recall ever seeing a "Win Plz" comment on a Mac-only release. Now, I'm a Windows user, so I don't frequently visit those posts, but I'm quite confident such requests are minimal, if not completely non-existent—especially since we Windows users seem to be R2R's favorite child and get most of everything. This brings me to my question: Besides the obvious Mac-exclusive DAW and plugins, can anyone name a single plugin or piece of software that has been released for Mac but is not available (yet) for Windows ? I'm genuinely curious. I want to build a list so that I'll be ready to post a "Win Plz" just to see what it feels like. Thank you. TLDR; Plugins that the Mac people get but Windows doesn't. Update Spoiler: The List 1. XLN Audio Life Last edited: Jun 24, 2025 at 1:49 PM
I simply report any request comments, so the moderators can clean faster. I can urge everyone to do the same, make the work for moderators easier. I stopped complaining and wanting things, which were not released so far. I take what its there, often to much or more then enough. And rather make music and worry less.
Pfff.....don't get me started on this. I don't understand these mac boys. Even the last weeks when there was a flood of mac software available there were still beggars. I don't get it anyway why a mac user would look into the windows section? At least, I don't look in the mac section. Sometimes I fantasize that all windows users would place posts in the mac section with "windoos plz plz plz". And while about complaining, how about all the morons complaining about missing versions, wrong versions, incompetent uploaders, wrong cracks and whatever way of misplaced judgements about people doing something for the community while the morons are sitting behind their computer just nagging? Why keep those morons as member? Why not a two strike system? It surely would make the life of mod's a lot easier!
this reminded me of the Sacred Post made many years ago beware: very funny edit: actual link, didn't even realise it wasn't working
What I don't undestand is, that when you make an account, you are obliged to read the rules and follow them, and STILL get these annoying posts. Those people not only annoy the crap out of the moderators and other members, but make them waste their time to deal with them. On a side note, the only plugin I am jealous of the Mac people is „XLN Audio Life“, as for this one there hasn't been a Win-release YET.
that is more meant like an inverse joke, PT people might think they have everything, yet they cry maybe if AAX was not included in releases. True Reaper is crazy powerful, if you know its depth very well.
We don't know where the users of this forum come from, nor do we know their age, intelligence, and expertise. We also don't know which operating system—Windows or Mac, or both—they have, or whether they plan to switch from Mac to Windows or from Windows to Mac, or, in a more extreme case, Linux. I also don't know the mental state of the user asking the question. In short, the behavior of some users is like the weather—hard to predict. Even the degree of confusion or malice of some users is mostly completely unknown to me. Sometimes there are signs of a personality disorder. Many postings are what I call emotional postings, which are simply reactions to a previous posting, expressing a desire to see what's going on in someone's head. Whether these people can still think coherently, I don't know, because I only know a few of them personally, and I know what they think and how they tick. Actually, the category is always listed in AZ, such as: Software, Windows, Mac OSX or Software Windows! Conclusion: I think we live in confusing times, and some users are probably overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information and a bit confused. They express their wishes, but there is also another phenomenon in our time: the egoists. They only have their own interests in mind and treat their fellow human beings like dirt. Without a moderator, we would sink into chaos.
Ah, classic. You admit you don’t visit Mac threads, yet confidently conclude 'Win Plz' comments are rare. Love the scientific method there. If you were around during the period when Mac-exclusive goodies dropped left and right, you'd have seen Windows users practically camping under every post spamming 'Win Plz'. The only reason you don’t see it now is because Windows gets spoon-fed 90% of the releases, cracked or not. But hey, never let context get in the way of a good 'let's bash the Mac crowd' post, right? Protools users never complain about missing AAX format plugins. They would first have to read the formats listed by the releaser, and then download the release, extract it, and run the installer first. They never do any of that. I'll never understand the "os please?" comments written on posted releases. If the Team could crack both platforms, they already would have; and in many cases the uploader can not do either one. It is off topic and a waste of time. The only thing I understand less is people who complain about them asking. Replying to them is just spam, too.
I have already seen many "Windows pleaaase" requests from Win users when a Mac plugin gets released one hour before it gets released for win. Ok, a bit exaggerated, but definitely many requests. And I ask myself each time: wow, you get all plugins, and you can't really endure if there are sometimes one or very few plugins that are released on Mac before WIN? The perception of Mac users by Win users is definitely distorted.
Oh, so you mean the post didnt come with a with a side of 'Mac people bad, Windows people chill' energy?
It’s funny, really. Up until just the last month or two, Mac users were lucky to get 1-2 plugins a day, while Windows was getting flooded with warez left, right, and center .. every single day. And then the OP wonders why you never see Windows users saying 'Win Plz'… Why would they? When you’ve already got practically everything you could ever need handed to you on a silver platter. This post is just rage bait at this point.
Interesting perspective, tho a bit strange way to look at it isn't it. So using Windows giving chill vibes these days huh. Never thought of that ever, but I'll take the compliment. Thanks.
Exactly. And still WIN users start begging when occasionally a Mac plugin is cracked before a Win plugin.
