    Hi!

    * I don't know if wildrecord is the correct name of the concept. I'm spanish and here is "sonido directo" like direct sound. It's the recordings on set. It includes some cloths movements and rubbings, some footsteps...

When you want to separate or dubbing audio in a surround you have a front center channel with dialogue and when a dubbing sound director receive it only has to remove this channel and records dubbing voices (in concept).

What are you have to do with residuals sounds of the wildrecord? Imagine a scene. An actor enters in a room, walks to the another actor while talk with him. You have footsteps without dialogue and footsteps with dialogue. Which is the correct way to do? Foley artist has to record two options of FXs track, one for original and another one for dubbings?

    Thx!!

(a little late to the party..) Well, the direct sound, or 'production sound' in English has to be completely recreated when actors speak. The dubbing studio typically asks for a 'filled' M & E track, which stands for Music & Effects. Filled means all holes (where actors spoke the original language) are filled with Foley & Roomtone by the Foley- & SoundFX editors.

So yes, Foley artists have more work to do when doing a film that gets foreign versions.
But if the production company knows upfront they want to go 'international', there's more budget for Foley.
