Is the matrix pool has a limit?
It is very hard to be succesful and famous in music.
But anyway there is a lot of people which look, behave or make bands in the same way!

The real question is : do you REALLY want to know ?
    -Market saturation
-Working recipe to make money gain

Blend the two and you obtain the same result whatever sector you take (music, machines, food ...)

As the market is saturated, you need to be sure the recipe is working ... and so you get a stack of the same "working" recipe saturating the market even more. And pushing even more "working" recipe.

As usual, this post may be censored to be "political" ... whereas it is simply the real answer.
But it seems real answers not running in circle around the subject are "political" ... so be it.

Of course. As always. When something is interesting and no one talking about it, it could be banned quickly :dunno:

Have you ever heard of Adorno and Horkheimer and other critical theory thinkers that proposed the Cultural Industry concept?

It is everything there, since 1940s.

PS: Guy Debord and Baudrillard are also good reads!

  6. Music genres generally have uniforms, so everyone ends up looking pretty similar in that music tribe.

Well... it's probably mostly based on the fact:
1: That many music studios have the same approach to the genre in terms of samples, plugins, instruments, etc.
2: That the artists are often not real musicians (in the old-fashioned sense) and therefore do not have the ability or imagination to create a personal expression with their so-called music.
3: If you don't have real musicians/artists in the studio, the risk is that it is the producer or the studio technician who takes over and they are probably most interested in making a product that can sell.

If you are willing to make the effort to listen to real musicians and their releases, I can among other things recommend recordings from the 50s and 60s from Rudy Van Gelder's studio!...
mostly jazz, but all bands sounded different because:
1: They played real instruments and therefore sounded very different - even though they all played the same genre: jazz.
2: the music studio's only task (at that time) consisted solely of getting the best possible recording on the day and the Producer's influence was often limited.

Why do Coca Cola and Pepsi have vending machines side by side?

Because when there's just one brand, the question is "Do I need to buy it or not?"

But when there are two brands, the question becomes "Do I buy a Coke or a Pepsi?"
