got me a new 2TB WD blue yesterday. gave me a few problems, dudnt want to be recognized, later got hung while quick formatting.
i`m a collector and have a couple of dozen more hds, i know what i`m doing usually.
long story short: copied a 8GB archive, 10 parts from my c drive to the new hdd. archive tests fine on c, but has 5 checksum errors on the wd. deleted the folder assuming the now newly copied archive would end up in a different location. 3 checksum errors. not in the same rar parts though.
may be the drive, my mild overclocking settings, usb hub or bay, who knows.
really makes me wonder: why no rar recovery records on sisite downloads?
it only takes one click, 1 checkbox, and life would be so much better.
maybe a suggestion for the mirror posters, earn your money.
or is it against the rules?

Thats not quite correct. Small defects in an archive can be repaired when the archive includes a recovery record. And usually there are only small defects. OK, when you download an archive and the download stops at 70% also a recovery record isnt able to repair it. But the usual case is that there is only a checksum error because of 1 or 2 wrong bits in the archive...and thats what the recovery function is made for.

win7, but thats not the issue.
if you ever start seriously downloading you will appreciate the option.
and you dont need an additional toolbox, the repair option is right there in winrar, next to the test button. since forever. you do need the recovery record though.

 

try doing the math on how much bandwidth the scene wastes via demo.mp3.

 

These are tools to recover a rar archive that has been deleted.
