Why no Producers / Songwriters union??

    HI all, forgive me if this is the wrong category.

    With the rise in music AI, and tech companies like distrokid, spotify etc constantly screwing over artist, im wondering why is there no union for music producers, songwriters, dj's etc?

    Actors union went on strike and made some decent change to their industry, one of them being a good fight against free use of AI to clone them.

    Has there ever been an attempt at musicians union? any other insight into this?

    I know there is some sort of union for string / orchestral players, but as far as i know, there is none for producers, engineers, songwriters etc.

    Depend on what country you are in I guess. In the United States there are quite a few.
    The top 3 in my mind are:

    American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada (AFM) 1896
    American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) since 1914
    Songwriters Guild of America (SGA) since 1934

    The first rule of The Producers / Songwriters Union is... nobody talks about The Producers / Songwriters Union.

    There have been musicians unions in most western countries for at least forty years. They were effective for a time but not anymore unfortunately.

    It's the same of the most unions, top gets enough money and they start not to care as long as the money flows

    What most ppl call "union" is in fact SYNDICATE.
    And syndicates are ALWAYS traitors to proletarians/workers/call us like you want.
    Because their goal, by construction, is to push you to WORK (produce, if you prefer) more.

    YES there are syndicates.
    NO they are NEVER going to help proletarians/workers/call us like you want, only the already "big boys".

    They defend a SYSTEM.
    That's why they are pushed by it.
