Why doesn't the "evil" part cancel out the genius part?

I'm Aware of what genius means bu the concept of Evil genius stresses me out, why do we give kudos to evil and then be like "ohh, shit lifes fucked oh no"

I'm sure this question blew my mind. And that's rare for an old fuck like me...

 

It doesn't cancel because it's not mathematically relevant. Words are not numbers. Some things might not make much sense until context is informed, such as in, "He was adverse the ugliness of her beauty, the incessant looking at herself and invoking the evil mirror from Snow White".

An oxymoron is a fool who abuses a certain opiate even though they know that in the long run it will most probably destroy their life.

 

It requires more intellect to be evil. Psychopaths are highly intelligent.

 

There is no evil. Evil is a morally bloated term used by people with lack of evidence to discredit other people.

 

We don't. "Genius" is a level of cognitive abilities, not a virtue.

Conversely, that argument is used by people/corpos to absolve themselves of all responsibility for their actions. As a result, millions of people routinely have to witness the destruction of their lives or that or their loved ones.

 

Genius doesn't necessarily imply good, it implies well, an "exceptional intellectual or creative power or other natural ability"

Some psychopaths just looks like they are more intelligent than they really are, and works on the corporate wolrd. Others are plain dumb fucks that are in jail, and others are just a bossy boss serving coffee at Starbucks. Psychopaty has nothing to do with intelligence, is a patology of the brain where empathy, shame an remorse are not functioning correctly, or functioning at all.

 

I guess, if you are being serious then an intellectually brilliant person who excels at using his or her mental abilities for positive useful ends or for negative harmful ends is a genius regardless of their intentions so kudos are given to the intellectual abilities rather than them being good or evil... Anyway, time to climb down my tree and grow smaller so I can enjoy my awfully good jumbo shrimp! ha!

 

Or, you get a dictionary instead. Or, go back to 3rd grade and learn how adjectives work. An objective observation isn't giving kudos is just a description of the function.

But it's clear from the comments, that just like the OP, not one of you can define evil. Not in 2 sentences or less.

i'm not meaning to be a rude asshole but this is kindof a moronic question that really had me scratching my head as to how an adult can actually be confused by this which is why i'm pretty sure you're not serious.. but just in case you are

i'm taking your word for it that you know what genius means but the flaw in your thought process isn't that you don't know what the definition of the word is but that it seems you (for some reason that escapes me) are assigning a moral value to the word. that is the ENTIRE cause of the breakdown you're having, causing "evil genius" to sound like an oxymoron to you (aka stress you out lol). all you have to do is detach the moral value from the word genius, (bc there literally isn't any) and you can stop stressing out.

like others have said, genius is not a "good" or a "bad", it is simply a word to describe those w/ a high intellect. like a teacher is a word to describe a person who teaches or a chef is a word for someone who cooks. there's no morality assigned to "teacher" or "chef".

so the same way it wouldn't stress you out or break your brain or sound like an oxymoron to hear someone be called an "evil chef", it shouldn't be that way when hearing someone called an "evil genius".

'evil' and 'genius', by definition, are not opposites of each other.

an example of an oxymoron is 'silent scream', or 'same difference', or 'open secret'. 'pretty ugly' is another.

 

I know what you're getting at but the evil part is a descriptor and evil is subjective.

but you might be happy to know that this is one definition: "An intellectually brilliant person who excels at using his or her mental abilities for negative or harmful ends; especially a criminal mastermind"
