Whenever I talk to or work with Russian producers they usually highly praise and work with Cubendo even in the more professional fields.

Is it because of the cracked versions that were around for a long time (till Cubase 5)?
Is it because of the dongle (some sort of prestige), not everybody can use it (newer versions)?
Is it because it has a Russian language option?
Is it because of some famous producers / musicians in Russia using Cubendo?
Is it because of some schools / magazines / books / universities there featuring Cubase?
Is it because of some special features important for Russian music?
Is it because of Steinberg who's doing a great job on marketing there?

Or am I totally wrong and all Russians are working with some secret Robotron tracker software (jk)?

    Just curious...

Because of the history (ok, and the Slavic language), only ~10% of Russians speak English. Cubase is more or less localized, most other DAWs are not.

But still, in Soviet Russia Cubase uses you.

Nope, Cubase is not so popular in Russia in the first place. Perhaps, most familiar? It comes from an ancient time—the first obtainable music computers were here Atari 1040s with Cubase 1.xx, MIDEX and the dongle :)

Not much has changed since then, eh? :)))

There's no such thing like "Slavik language". Only one percent of Russians need English, being use it at work or wherever. Cubase never been and never be localized, as most "other" DAWs. In Soviet Russia the moments of history have had you.

History beside I also have the feeling that most younger producers on YouTube very often use Cubase as well.
Cubase is the only DAW (I know of) which offers a Russian language option.

And Reaper of course. If somebody is talking about some appreciated function in a DAW usually the Reaper guys chime in and brag about Reaper. So there seems to be a Russian language kit for Reaper as well.

Vielen Dank. Just read the Wikipedia about "Slavic language" and thought - Poles, Bulgarians and Serbs (Croats)—we understand each other. Not literally, but we can drink vodka between Russian and Polish, Belarus and Czech, and more or less understand each other. Is it time to learn Russian? :) Like a standard protocol, such as MIDI, but between eastern people.

actually all the russian expats abroad speak good english, this anti-russian sentiment is totally out of place in 2016 especially considering the overwhelming success of Putin The Great and the ongoing geopolitical situation.

it's not surprising that russians stick with cubase, it's the best Daw and they know it.
russian music is also very good, give it a try !

I thought Cubendo was quite popular around the world.. no?
It's been there for ages now (steinberg 24 even made it to the Amiga) it's not bad and affordable.
So why ask "hey, there is a DAW noone knows of, but it is very popular in #INSERT COUNTRY#"??
The only competitor from back then didn't manage to be multi platform any more (emagics logic).
That's a shame actually, but that's how it is.
    #edit#
Sorry, c-labs logic, i'm getting old, memories get blurry...

It is because the only truly compatible DAW with Stolichnaya Vodku is Cubase. :)
