    Mh, this phenomena is way older than just a few month.

    Overcompressing/limiting highscore goes back to 2008 with Metallica's Death Magnetic.

    No RR samples for snares and stuff are also used for more than 10 years.

    Sadly, he didn't name any examples where this is not the case with commercially successful HM bands.
