Logged in or not logged in, getting dialog with prompt to click "Allow" or, register for Premium to download.

Not logged in, clicked on another link (R2R) that popped up Captcha & gave normal download dialog.

What's going on with the first example? Are we expected to blindly click on "Allow"? Allow what??

Update:
For me, as of August 5, 2023, Katfile still presenting premium dialog for Wavesfactory July 2023 posts.

"Allow" no longer has a link.

I've had my concerns about that myself. I'm not sure if Kat has some policy change, if their site has been compromised, or something else.

I'm wary.

 

Definitely suspicious behavior.

It's been happening for several weeks now, increasing in regularity to the point that for me it's now every link..

Here's what it looks like..

 

Oh, when I use a browser it looks the same. But it doesn't happen with JDownloader.

Not only: on the bottom right a bubble with something like VIRUS!!! or CHROME IS VULNERABLE (I don't use chrome) appears, but of course is just katfile site some kind of spam, if I kill it with ublock all page disappears.

Temporary fix: use tab to get to the download link

 

How do you do that? I use FF and Chrome, but the keyboard key TAB does not work. Only solution for me was to do as in the image: allow katfile notifications. I said it to "ASK" every time, so I allow it only once but I don't like websites to do things like this. Why is that?

 

I just click on the window background (katfile window) to gain focus and then hit tab until I get to the download link that starts the countdown.
A little try and error but it works (for me).

Ps. I use FF

 

I use Brave and W10, it only happened once here.
It was a full-screen window, so the TAB did not work, I tried.
So I right-clicked on the window, choose 'Inspect', then under elements, browse to the corresponding div, select the complete div, and right-click on that selection: choose 'Delete element'.
It did not come back yet..
Don't know for how long, if it comes back I'll make a screenshot of the selection and post it here.

 

@Alcide Nikopol: great tip, but did not work for me. I deleted what I thought had to delete, but then the download button would not work.

If you spam F5 it will eventually disappear lol

 

I follow the instruction. Site Settings >>> Notification >>> Allow. (but with anti-virus on/enable)
And then I can begin time countdown and download. Download finished.
And I back to default at notification setting on Chrome again like before. (Notification >>> Ask)

But please don't follow my way even though nothing has happened with my PC (Win11 22H2 + Chrome) so far.
I just share my experience about this Katfile too.

So after some time (6 downloads), it came back. Now it comes back every 2 downloads. But the workaround still works.

@paul_audioz, you have to click on the white background (not on the grey window with text), then you'll get the right div ;-)

As promised a screenshot:


In Firefox it is similar, right click on the white background, click 'Inspect', then select the div, right-click, and select 'Delete Node'

Hope this works..

 

katfile is a terrible site imo, its been around for ages but always locked down unless you pay $$$ and anything you download from their servers for free better be 20mb or less or it will never finish, slow as hell

When there are several options for quick free download sites today, why would the two main ones on sister site be KF and RG?

Thanks, but now the nag-screen does not appear. I tried more than 10 different downloads.
But I keep this trick in mind!

While I wait for an answer form them, use JDownloader.

Also, all people here should send Katfile support a message to make pressure.
