Why are Arturia Collection instruments so damn LOW in volume?

    is it just me.??

The volume of their instruments off the V collection sound so thin and low. I have to either turn up the volume on the instrument for each patch or at worst , turn up the volume on my soundcard.

Native instruments vsts are normal volume without any sort of adjustments

Im really pissed i actually paid full price for it instead of testing the cracked version first(lol...my mistake)

I find most VSTi's are too loud right out of the box. I'm looking for a volume of 0VU (-20dBFS) to process them with VST FX.

I find Native Instruments instruments too loud, because I mix in the same way as Zenarcist @0dB VU which is in my case -18dB RMS. Every instrument and every preset that I try is much louder than that, even Arturia ones, and bringing the channel fader down is of no use because it's important to feed the plugins after the synth at the 0dB VU level, too. However, I usually start with the raw synths and just bring the channel fader down. Then if/when I decide a plugin is needed after the synth, I adjust the volume on the synth itself. It is buggersome, yep. :/ It's easier to make the synth louder.

To save you the trouble of having to do it yourself so you don't record and mix too hot. Better to have them lower at the input stage. Many are conditioned to tracking and mixing as loud as the master should be. That doesn't work out well in a lot of cases if the intended result is going to be a loud but comfortable sounding master.

Yep, it's better to remove the excess headroom during the mastering stage

I hear you man. The majority of the default patches/presets for current VST instruments sound good on their own. But they are usually way too wet off top and the tails are too long to fit well in a production without trimming those fx way down.

-20dBFS is indeed a good starting point, I don't VU at all any more ( Thanks to RMS)
but a digital signal does not get better harmonics when recorded hotter, it only goes completely flat-line at zero when recording (encoding)..

If you really need the volume, put a limiter on master and crank it up.
