Could you, please, explain me what is going on about Taylor Swift? Taylor Swift this…, Taylor Swift that… No news without mentioning her almost everyday. She is now more popular in the news than Jackson, Turner and others altogether then… She’s literally the best! Why? I read her story about regaining copyrights of her masters while ago. The nice story. But does it make her “the best”? What is very special about her?

 

I like her for her business savvy and the fact she offered all the session musicians on her original recordings a chance to be on the rerecordings so they would not lose out on royalties. Lots of other musicians have tried to rebel against their labels and none have come close to what she managed. And she always seems to be farting into a microphone according to a post I saw today.

Every now and then something just becomes inexplicably huge, beyond all logic and proportion, like, say, the pet rock. A fun idea that gets out of control and devours society. Taylor Swift is our pet rock.

 

what's going on with her ? all I know is whenever you let Spotify "randomize" your playlist, shuffle play in whatever genre, her song will magically make way into it, doesnt matter it's Death Metal playlist or anything. You move on, and search for other artist to listen to, and somehow her name still turn up on the search result page even when she got nothing to do with the artist you are searching for. Whenever you try to create a playlist, her songs will always be there somewhere as suggestions. I bet her name is all over the place in the main Spotify algo. At the end of the year you'll see on social medias that she's the artist with highest number of streams and it doesnt surprise you at all. The news is she beat the "evil" major label and manage to have it her way clearly not knowing they let her to think that way. For every dollar her music made, those same people she "beats" takes 90% out of it. Impossible to beat those mf at their own game. Most people in the age bracket of 16-27yo think she's the hero we all deserve, the symbol of American dream. That's far from the actual truth, but it helps sells her records, sold out a 3-days straight shows at the same venue and collect the usual awards at the end of the year. Nobody except Kanye had problem with it.

Me, I think she plays guitar better than 90% of the people I've met, has a good voice, can dance, pretty enough that I'd tap that, brave but naive enough that it's adorable, one thing that I found admirable is how she is consistently writing songs for young people (teenagers, young adults) which is a super hard thing to do for anyone ever, from a musician perspective. Especially when you get past 30 years of age. Even I when some random kid come up to me and say they like my music will make me feel weird and hope they fuck off quickly. I believe there's only 0.1% people in here, when writing music, in their head will be like "Ah, the teenagers are gonna love it". Unless you are already paid in advance to do it for a specific project or something which is a different story. Or you just basically suck. Idk, just saying. I'm under the assumption that when people listen to your music, you'd want them to look at it, understand the song (you) the way you do. Ain't no way kids are able to do that, at least you 100% didn't back at that age, just think about how miserable it was.

TS songs however stupid the lyrics are, if you are a good musician you cant deny there is sincerity in there. Well at least it's as much as a how a typical everyday girl sincerely saying "I love you" to you face with that lovely eyes and then fuck another random guy 6 months later.
